It depends on the site topic. Article sites typically have fewer links to internal pages—up to 50. Online stores can have 500 or 1,000 links due to their large menus.
 
there's no exact number, you should have as many as needed to link to every relevant page (think Wikipedia-style) but not so many that you inconvenience your visitors.

If you absolutely want a number then aim for 1 link every 200-300 words, I think that's a fair estimate. Just don't have 1 link every 200-300 words all the time, this will be an easily recognizable pattern and google are very good at detecting patterns. They might still not penalize your site even if you follow this pattern, but it's best to be safe than sorry, so throw 1 more link every 50-100 words, or instead of every 200-300 words make 400-500 words, etc. Basically mix and match as needed, and as relevancy allows while not bothering your visitors is what I'm trying to say....

Also, if possible, make internal links inside of the content, don't rely on "Related Posts" type of links. Yes, those are internal links too (and they still matter), but it's better to insert links directly inside of the articles instead of using only the Related Posts...
 
it's tough for your internal links to negatively impact your SEO, unless you're adding a link to every other word/sentence and obviously spamming,
basically, you can have 60 total links per page for most websites, up to 100+ for authority websites,

so, excluding the navigational links, you'll end up with at least 30+ spots for contextual links, realistically around 5-25 links,
typically, you can link wherever it looks natural and possibly helpful for the users, with no worry, that should do the work,
or you can distribute links depending on the silo, pillar & cluster pages, etc... (could be as advanced as needed)

You should find a balance between readability and necessity. If there are too many links, it'll look like spam. If there are too less, you might be missing traffic and link juice. Wikipedia needs a ton of backlinks to justify every sentence, blogs don't. So, use internal links with a sole purpose of helping the visitors understand the context better and find related articles.
 
30-100 internal links per page is fine depending on the content length. Focus on linking relevant pages. Don't overstuff just for SEO.
 
There’s no strict rule, but here’s the general advice:
Aim for around 3 to 10 internal links per page that are relevant and helpful to the user. Too few internal links can miss out on SEO benefits and user navigation, but too many can look spammy and confuse visitors (and search engines). Focus on linking to important, related pages naturally within your content. Quality beats quantity!
If your page is long, you can add more internal links, but keep them meaningful and useful.
 
There is no exact number I just try to add internal links that make sense for the content Usually around five to ten per page works fine for me
