hi, sorry for asking this dumb question. So what do we need to do now after downloading the list?
Do you go to each blog manually and read the post and comment on it, leaving our site's link in the comment?
Or is there a software that does all that?

Manually submitting a good relative comment with your link is the best way to use these. Make the comment a good size of at least 30 words to have a good chance of having them approved and stay longer. I wouldnt use bots for a good list of ********.

After downloading, you can visit manually each blog and comment on it. Easier is to use for this a tool.

I will say this is absolutely golden advice. all my blogs are do follow, but i approve all comments manually myself.
if you post spam, you dont get a link.
dont mention your site in the post just use you name as a keyword you are going after then add site, then comment about the article.

1. Put in your name in name box.Try to use something catchy that will get them to click on it.
2. Fill in your email. It is never shown so its safe (??).
3. Put in your link in the URL box.
4. Fill in your comment in the comment box. Generally you will find if you put your link in the comment box it is not hot linked back to your site.
BUT because you have put in your link URL in the URL box your NAME will be linked on the published comment. That is why it is good to put something catchy as a name to make them WANT to click on it.
nice man, I didn't even know you could do that. That's why I never got any backlinks from blogs, they never accepted my posts!

But I should NOT put a link to my site in the comments if it has a URL box, or should I also put it in the comments section? Thanks!
Also, should we only advertise our sites related to that site? For instance, if I have a site related to couches, and I comment on a cell phone site, will it be alright, or should I stay away from that?

Yes for the URL put YOUR website URL.
You can put your link in the comments box if you wish but it will not be hot linked so even if visitors try to click on it , it won't work. They would have to copy and paste or type it in manually and no-one will do that so ....wasted post.
If it is a blog where the owner reviews your comment before posting it , they may not post it as the comment will look a bit spam like with your URL in it unless it is truly needed as part of your post.
You can post anything you want to any site. It will be up to the owner of the site if they review comments to decide if they allow your comment. It is always a better option to post something relevant to the topic you are commenting about, again to avoid being denoted a spammer. Try to post something that helps but it is not all that easy at times especially when you just wish to thank them for great information. "Hey great post man" does not constitute a good post ! Not all blogs are moderated so sometimes you can get away with it. But when we post good comments we all win !
As it stands when you put your URL in the URL box, your name will be highlighted in a different colour ( generally blue sometimes pink) above your comment post and this will signify to all if they click your name it will take them to your site.
When the name is not highlighted this means the poster has not put in a URL.

For those that are interested, I've created a ******** Blog Directory in the last week or so over @ http://dofollowdir.com.. I'd appreciate any submissions from anyone that has the time! I'll be siphoning through the lists here along with about ~1500 other sites that I've got in a list.. Hopefully establishing the largest ******** blog list/directory on the tubes.
