ThopHayt nailed it.People complain about poor outsourcing yet are sitting there paying pennies per hour essentially. Seriously stop and think about it. You pay shit, you will get shit labor in return because the guy you pay $0.30 to for a task is TRYING to stack more work on his plate to make up for slave wages... so he does a rush job on everything. The whole of India is rife with this.
Go find some connections, offer better pay, and demand better work. Don't be a virtual version of a sweat shop asshole.
Also BEWARE of middle men. People you might find posing as freelancers who are actually middle men from India/wherever that take your $20 and go pay a native $5 to do the job. Finding a direct source to a honest person, that you treat with respect and build a longterm relationship with is the key.
I outsource most of my work. The key is to keep testing new people, and keep the ones thats good - remove the bad apples. Don't listen to their excuse, remove them and move on....How many of you outsource your work and what advice would you give to someone like me or any other marketers to "outsource" their work.
as per experience, if you don't go cheap with your VA, they tend to stick.
I ordered some sites off someone 4 weeks ago, gave specific criteria that the domains MUST BE .coms, needless to say they came back with .Org. Even when you are clear with instructions some people hear but don't listen.
Outsource can be the same, had it before where the trial service was very good, hired them for seo and the resulting work was not as good.
Used Odesk ( as was ) a couple of years back, for some seo work, the work was actually done by someone different to the person I hired and was a mess. Site fell like a stone in rankings.
What I have since found is pay a fair rate and look after the worker(s) and from time to time if yo've had a good month / quarter, give them a bonus.
I tried the outsourcing to Pakistan and India for some time ago, it's too much of work to train them and actually get them understand what they shall do. Now I'm doing it all myself.
Struggling right now... I give exact instructions, have to repeat it three times trying to explain it in a different way because they don't understand what I need. Then they demand Skype-chat. Last time I literally read off the screen what I wrote in the first instruction word by word - and magically when I tell them instead of writing - they understand.
Then magically shit gets done.
