I had a shower thought. What if Google AI (that's what it is now. Lol. No longer rule based algo). What if the ranking AI calculates #hub score of a pge by comparing the similarity of the index of outbound links on a candidate page to other pages already ranking.



This is such that pages with the highest number being the ones with similar outbound links rank higher than those with different outbound links.



This is purely theoretical because pages about a topic almost always mention the same set of resources. I would like to know your thoughts and observations.

What I am telling here are strictly opinions, as I have no acces to G kitchen. What you are suggesting here is happening for a long time, no matter how we call it, algo or else. Pages are assigned a spamming score based on the their content and, of course, links, all types. Using dataframes in ML makes this task very easy. But perhaps would be too easy to classify sites only on that type data, so other factors are there to stay, before being replaced with something new.
 
I don't think OBLs are that important, and it's so easy to replicate this behaviour...
