Google now uses AI to detect whats on the image. You can try uploading your image their and see how google actually see's it. As per my experience unique images are faster to index also if you write exif data then it will also help.
People here are saying to "copy" the top photos, but won't google know you're using the same photo? It'll see website A had that exact same photo as website B first and won't rank your photo under google images.
It's easy and legal to make pictures original tho.
Find free to modify images and run them through a filter on your image editing program. Backward image search can't tell a filtered image from the original.
Good to find this thread now. Back when I knew even less than I know now I got @Shree great Amazon Affiliate course [I'm not affiliated with him, for a newbie like me it was brilliant]. I took what he said as the gospel truth which was to use unique images.
The tip he used was to search on youtube for a video of what you need and then take a screengrab of what you want, resize it to a small file, like 20kb, to keep your site fast.
You get extra credit from google for producing something unique. This is very tedious and time consuming but I'm glad to see that the consensus is that it is worth it.
Very short answer:
- optimise file resolution with some image processing software and compress the file with compressor.io or something to get optimal image size
