Hi,

I have a domain (2 years old) which has been replaced by a new one.

I want to get stated on SEO now, what is the best course of action for this without getting the new one blacklisted?

- x rummer the old url?

- create backlinks for the new or old url

- create a duplicate site or holding page on the old url and x rummer

- any other method.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks,

R.

You probably want to 301 redirect via .htaccess.

SEO and backlinks to the new site, let the old one die.

If the old domain doesn't have PR or a good number of backlinks, I wouldn't redirect right now. I think the best time for that (considering the above) is to rank this website and then redirect (301).

You can use the tools you want to create baclikinks for the old domain (because it aged and less "red flag" going) and use a more moderate methods for the new one.

Linking both right now and blasting the old one with backlinks (with tools) bring a risk of losing both domains. If someone had the experience of linking old domain to new domain and creating backlinks at fast pace TO the old one without compromising the new website, please share your experience.
