Noob question anout blogging and traffic

Basically i have become an affiliate with liveperson and thinking of a way to promote my affiliate link to get paid registrations. I am thinking of doing it using blogger and im new to it. All i want to ask is how to get traffic to your blog? Sorry if im sounding like i want to be spoonfed.
