Hello guys! First of all I would like to thank the initiator of this topic, as well as other people who spare their time in order to help us newbies with questions.
Now to the question at hand. I have recently bought a new domain; after doing research in a particular niche I came up with a domain name that has 12k monthly searches with low competition. My problem is with my ranking strategy. About a week has passed and according to the ''whats my serp'' serp checker my domain is nowhere to be found in the first 300 google results for my targeted keywords. This is somewhat normal, although I thought I would at least rank somewhere in the first 300 results at least.
Anyhow, my main problem is with my ranking strategy. I am somewhat afraid of not getting penalized by Google for blackhat link building technique, thus I didn't really start building backlinks, apart from some community forums where I knew most of the people.
How should I proceed? I already have about 10 articles on my site, most of which are SEO friendly and are targeting the keywords I researched. But what about some off-site SEO ? I do not want to get in trouble with Google so I am really reluctant to just spamming backlinks and such. I was thinking of making some web 2.0s articles and posting my links there, although I do not know if it is worth it. If someone could give me a little bit of guidance that would be great. I should mention that I did read various articles both on this site and on other sites, regarding SEO and linkbuilding techniques, but I am really unsure how to start off with, especially since some opinions are really contradicting each other. Some say that content is king, whereas some say that without back links you cannot get ranked.
