No Signature in BST Section Rule

I do most definitely agree with this - it is courtesy to remove your signature when posting on someones BST, and I wouldnt mind if sig was removed automatically.

BUT, and this is purely selfish, I post 80% of my posts (and make most of my BST purchases) from my phone (TAPATALK) and with that app, I dont beleive you get the choice to remove signature, which makes it really awkward for me - sometimes Ill go to safari and log in and edit my post to remove the signature, but thats LONG.

I worry that even if an automatic removal is implemented, that it will break TAPATALK (Like somewhere else on here, cant remember where, where a post needs agreement of terms, it also is not possible to post to from TAPATALK).

Hmm.. that's interesting.. thanks for raising that.

Maybe Mods can look into that too and pass it on to the Admins.

Now that you mention it, I have seen lots of examples of this kind. I mean some guys just mean goodwill and wish the OPs but then some do misuse the sig. Leave it to Leith to come up with a brilliant suggestion. Well done!

The "goodwill" posts are cluttering too...

Seriously man, is it beneficial to post this in every BST thread that is launched:

If you want to wish "goodwill" send the person a PM...but this kind of stuff isn't necessary either. Sure, it will help become "mega poster" and hit 20,000 posts within a year...but who does this benefit?

True, but do you really want to start moderating posts based on percentage of benefit?

Clear rules with a goal are fine but after that we should be free to post what we want right?

Besides, if you took all the fluff out of bhw, I'd only have about 500 posts for one ( :-) ) but the site would probably be a tenth of the size, and I bet it would not be nearly as popular.

I am referring to the BST section only. People pay for that space to conduct business. Not receive irrelevant posts from people looking to increase post count. If they have nothing better to do and want to post nonsense that is what the Lounge is for.

Just a suggestion. Buy hey,what do I know... ;)

Ok yea, that's a fair point! Maybe there should be some stricter rules in BST then - like only post if you are really a buyer or intending to immediately buy. Etc.

I have to say I am guilty of this and apologize if I have ever offended someone. The reason I might drop a good luck/generic message is to serve two purposes..

1) Is to actually congratulate members on their BST (which I don't think I will be doing anymore)
2) Subscribes me to the thread so I may view it later.

As most BST provides a segment of total seo solutions, I don't understand the issue unless it is a directly competing product. However, I do think removing all banners / etc on all BST is a good idea. As they paid for it they should have exclusivity..

However, everyone should also consider the fact that some people are actually friends with the OPs and have been prewarned about the BST so we can jump in early. This exact scenario occurred via skype just last night...

Funny enough.. It never seems to be a problem when they are purchasing the product..... Just saying....

I think they'd better forbid irrelevant posts in BST like "good thread, good luck, nice I will bookmark" and live it only for reviews.
Anyway in real life any fucker could come in front of your advertisements and promote himself aswell.

Bit of clarification, as the signature modification would be entirely server side as to whether or not display users signatures or not, it is highly, highly unlikely that it would do anything to TapaTalk! :)

On any advert, they can't advertise ON your advert.

If I bought some TV ad space, they can't just run another advert ON top of mine mixing it together.

True :)

+1 for this Leith really a nice Idea, as I run a BST myself so can understand where you are coming from:-)

its not about the signatures all over the bst thread..
its about the 1 liner comments on 1st page of a bst just to advertise own service..

even I'm a bst seller and thb I dnt care about the signatures out there.. I mean there are animated banners all over.. on the left side the 2 banners are always blinking something or the other.. banners after 1st post.. the position A.. everything will suck the traffic.. and that's what they are meant for?

as a buyer, if the service is tempting then I will be focused on that service only! in case if the signature takes me to some other thread I still keep that previous thread opened so that I can buy the service which I like.

Got to be careful not to put too many restrictions in place though, otherwise people will be scared of posting anything lest they get reprimanded for it.

I think auto removal of sigs in BST is the best idea (assuming that's possible).

Old thread but still a very decent, well-supported suggestion.

Where did things get left off with this?

I too Leith think signatures should be disabled in all of the replies in BST sections.

I've been adding in to my posts in BSTs the following at the bottom:

*Signature removed out of courtesy of BST Seller*

Maybe if more of us did something along those lines and ticked the little "Show your signature" box so it does not appear people would catch on and follow suit.

I haven't read all the thread, but it has been over 1 year since this thread was opened but nothing has happened. Even mods thanked the OP.

Well I guess I'll read the 3 pages to see the reason lol

It's not a Mod's decision to make. It is an Admin's decision.
