No more Jr Execs??

That sucks for you, OP. There is something about you being able to rejoin at a later date, though, and I'm sure they'll take you back in once those new criteria for the Jr. Exec role are worked out properly with changes being live.

Till Jr. Exec roles are worked out properly KraftyKyle, Billy Batts etcc need to made Jr. Exec again

I've been a Jr Exec for 6 or 7 years, a member here for 12+ years, with 3,500+ posts and nearly 7,000 likes...

I received a PM today titled "Demotion From Jr. Exec" with zero notice saying:

Hello KraftyKyle,

We're messaging you today to inform you that, due to some changes we're making to Jr. Exec, we're removing the few remaining Jr. Exec members who did not make into Exec.

If you wish to rejoin the ranks of Jr. Exec, we'll have a new process by which you'll be able to potentially rejoin at a later date after we've revamped the section entirely.

------------

I was given zero notice of such changes, nor given any reason for being demoted besides for "due to some changes".

It seems odd though that they're dropping the Jr Execs that didn't meet their seemingly subjective criteria (maybe there was a vote?) and also even weirder that they're dropping a longtime Jr Exec like myself to then tell me to "potentially rejoin by the new process".

I've tried searching but haven't been able to find anything about such changes either.

What's going on? Wouldn't it make more sense to honor my longstanding status that was given by being voted in as a Jr Exec? I'm incredibly surprised that I'm being blindsided by this unfair action after all of these years of being a Jr Exec.

just an observation - Kyles / Batts post of no notice / reason reminds me of recent mods who where let go
and some also commented they were not even told they where being let go or why or no thanks
for there time served, i guess bhw is having communication issues in some areas .
but its odd they let 2 execs go who are around often - but keep some execs who are hardly here
but dropped by to vote 2 active members out. clicks will be clicks.

How many non-Jr. Execs have been promoted to this status in, let’s say, the past twelve months?

Indeed, no added benefits, other than a shiny username and more appealing forum presence, is to be bestowed upon those most fortunate to attain the status through a vote made by those already holding the title.

I believe the number of promotions have been very little, and hopefully, such votes can take place on a community-wide basis instead of such fate being dictated by the hands of a select few that can only initiate votes at their time of choosing, which does not seem to be much (perhaps wrongfully assumably, to keep the number of such title holders to a minimum, effectively making their status a more coveted one and as such, boosting their forum rep even more).

All that said, a new status system is needed, and the current, revamped, so that such titles of recognition are not only easier to attain but so members are more compelled to make contributions to the community, which I must admit, would be refreshing to see around here.

Thank you to the MODs and team leading the changes that are taking place, I speak for a good majority of us when I say your efforts do not go unnoticed.

I like the idea of the community voting members into Jr. Exec. Maybe make it a monthly event.

The new formula has already been created, it just needs to go through approval, but it would be interesting to see who would get suggested by the community to become a Jr. Exec. Maybe the ability to vote on Jr. Execs can be a Jr. VIP benefit as well. There's a lot to consider there.

Nice suggestion, @ContentExpert!

Code:
All that said, a new status system is needed

theres a simple system - you contribute within a certain group then you
retain the rank upgrade, if you post twice a year, the free upgrade gets removed.
its pretty simple, if you dumping members from a group who are active while
retaining people posting 3 times a year, then that rank in itself becomes a joke
where they stick together to vote out hard workers while they retain there group
position and contribute little

At this point, BHW needs an algorithm that ranks members and not based on human inputs which can be biased.

For example, it can be a simple rule that if you get featured in newsletters 50 times or an 5 execs like your post or you get pinned 50 times, you become a junior exec.

Any change made on the forum is going to upset someone.

Let's hold the riots, see what they propose for the new process and take it from there.

Pitchforks down peeps.

That is exactly what the formula I was working on is for! :D

Will be abused as mentioned previously (if it was made public). We know you guys are sneakier smarter than you give yourselves credit for.

Moving this thread to Suggestions and Feedback.

I appreciate that. Thanks for saying this in a nice manner without offending anyone.
I feel xoxo offended. (jkin)

There are quite a few moderators that got demoted months ago with no much drama, It's just business no much hard feelings. Since not bonded by law. Moreover, businesses change hands and new owners could come with best practices that deem fit.

@Zwielicht if you ask the community to vote then besides these two, I would nominate @proxygo while he doesnt wish to be a mod he at least deserves this, second person @bartosimpsonio for his witty threads,

and if it’s only seo based then these 2 @tiiberius @splishsplash or better loved by newbies and pros Mr Positive:D moral of the story we will create posts for favourites users which will again be disagreed and so on.

I like the idea of community voting but honestly I feel it’ll gamed unless only Jr Vips with over 1000 posts and 200 likes can vote this will be harsh on other members but only way to prevent it from gaming

but as usual I’ll leave this headache to you and other mods unless you intent to give all review copies you get for a year I’m going to stop more suggestions lol.

I like this, Jr.Vips are more seasoned members and can better judge who earned that title.
There are some legends here that are not Jr.Vip currently but maybe have been in the past... I am just saying that leaving this to the jr.vips is a better option because it narrows the pool down a bit or you can let all the forum vote but this needs some kind of limitation, like a post limitation or how old your account similar to jr VIP ...

All ten of the Jr. Exec's names were put forward in one poll. As the majority of the execs voted for @LukaB, he was promoted to exec as a result.

Although, as you pointed out, he's not been as active as he should be, and other Jr. Execs and Execs have been culled for the same reason. I'll forward this to the rest of the staff members as his account should be reviewed despite being 'yes' voted into exec. Additionally, there really needs to be a hard number on that inactivity rule just to make things clearer, so I'll look into adding that in myself.

This wasn't properly stated in the PM the other admin sent to the culled Jr. Execs, but if you read the line I quoted above, after the Jr. Exec section is done being renovated, invites were going to be sent out to a few of the culled Jr. Execs in addition to the invites being sent out to dozens of other new Jr. Exec.

That means, @KraftyKyle and @Billy Batts, the demotion was potentially (that's the key word here, as it was used in the PM sent to you) temporary for you two whilst the new Jr. Exec Zone and Jr. Exec benefits are being reworked. However, the recent content and current demeanour of those Jr. Execs who have been demoted will be taken into account when these invites are sent.
It's quite simple, if they have lost there jr exec titles then the team have spoken. What I don't like is that if you are jr exec and lost status why create a thread ? That too me is just to loud and demotion should be taken on the chin like a man not cteati a thread telling everyone you had 7000 likes.

I'm not been funny but jr exec is privilege. Just because we create witty threads, has no way or impact on who should get promoted IMO tbh.

A dude who signed up yesterday could be the funniest guy you ever met, does not mean they should get promo ?

I think promo should be based on activity, quality of content and shares, etc. Not just because some guy is "witty"

Bhw does not need an "algo" it just need people to behave like adults and accept change. Some people don't like change. Simple as that. Algos can be manipulated and last thing we want is more games been played.

Solid suggestion and articulately put, would make the process a community-wide thing which could only be beneficial for all involved.
