USA say notch the rest of the English speaking world says neesh... The way it is meant to be pronounced

I dont give a shit what it sounds like as long as i hear "CHA-CHING" at the end of the day :D

P.S. I Say 'nitch'

colloquial (native) is always correct. It is the "when in Rome, do as the Romans do" thing. Sometimes words just evolve and become correct with time.

Why don't the Brits pronounce most Rs in a word? People in east Virginia. USA (Richmond) still talk like that till this day. It sounds pleasant even if it is against the rules of the English language.

I probably would say "topic" or "genru" in Europe so as to not offend or confuse anyone.

I'm the exact oposite, when I first heard someone say nitch in some stupid IM promotional video I thought it was hilarious, I thought it was some ignorant american who had only seen it spelled out on the internet and read it wrong, but it turns out you guys actually say it that way..
I can understand the aluminium difference but phonetically niche should be said neesh surely?

:D

Exactly the same here.

I had never heard it pronounced "nitch" until I began checking out IM.

This thread blew my mind, always thought it was said nitch...also I can't read SEO as s-e-o, I read it as c-e-o. idk why. It's annoying though.

Let us ask the authority on this matter hxxp://tts.imtranslator.net/KCXO

LMAO Thank you sir!! I needed that :D

Also, I'm just going to say this and I don't care if I get flamed for it or not; there are a lot of really stupid people on here. Just because someone pronounces a word in a different way than you do does not give you the right to make fun of them.

:tool:

I'm going to go ahead and vote 'nitch' solely for the fact that the majority of people that say 'neesh' are douches.

Peace

ahaha love the videos posted :) It seems such an English thing to be bothered about pronunciation :D
