Hello BHW community! Almost 2 years as a member this is my first post. Before I get into the point of my post I want to thank every member of the community that contributed and share knowledge with me these 2 years. This knowledge sharing is the reason I took some decisions some time ago and I am writing now trying to share my thoughts and get useful opinions and information.

The last year I am reading almost all new and old posts on BHW trying to find out how I can make my way to the 'world of internet', with my main target profit in the long run. Problems for me are that I am totally newbie, I am not a programmer and have no coding knowledge. On the other hand I can understand the logic of programs and I can adapt easily as a power user.My education background is on paramedical field and my working experience is on sales (medication drugs, respiratory machines). Why I am sharing these info about me… as I am going to ask for help I want you to have a pic of my skills. And I ll explain: for example working on sales made it very easy for me to use chatGPT. Why? Because trying to convince a doctor prescribe your drug is a procedure same as trying to make chatGPT give you the right answer. Open and close questions when needed and building a specific frame to communicate into until you get what you want – o box of pills or a nice article. Much easier with chatGPT tho as human brain still has no limits and is very hard to control a “trained with sales men”mind.

I am from a small European country, tier 2. My google trends search was really disappointed. Very big news pages, controlled by companies and people with millions seem like dominated all topics. For example they build a page that has to do with working in public sector and after 4-5 years they have built a page that contains food, politics, health etc etc. On my field (paramedical) it is very hard to stand unless you are a doctor. People at my country like the authority of a title.

But one day I found something very interesting while searching. One page that looks like the well-known (or unknown sometimes) Q&A pages. For some reason as many times I tried to have the “people also asks” google field on my pc, on my mobile and to the computers of some friends it was not there. Only on some specific topics, usually these has to has with technology. So probably some guys took advantage on that gap. I ll give some details about the first page I found (cause there are some more ). A very old domain (prior of 2010) that started as a computers review site and now is full of articles answering on simple questions. Questions like what is Hotmail. And on that question the specific page is ranking 1 on google and Bing too. Vulnerabilities I discovered: A) although articles are usually 1000 words they are written in a very simple style like talking to elementary school kids B) information most of time are false: for example Hotmail wasn’t started by Microsoft, but was bought by Microsoft. These guys don’t know that, however ChatGPT that I asked knew it, C) about 40% of articles are from 2010 with some improvements. However this page is getting like 130-140000 visits per month. Strong points I discovered: unbelievable number of external links referring to specific keywords ( for the question about Hotmail they have 1,5K links)

As I said I found there is one almost similar page. Different name, different topics, newer domain but same idea and same language (I am almost sure same people run both of them). There is the same picture regarding concept and writing style, same huge amount of backlinks and same traffic (this one is a little higher at 150-170K visits per month). I forgot to mention that both pages have mostly organic traffic. They are active on FB but the last post they had was back at 2019.

So my idea is starting a similar page as a blog. Local page, referring only to my country, in my language. Stealing ideas from competitors, get a better content with ChatGPT help - although I have to manually improve content as A.I is still shit with my language (there are small syntax errors on writing that makes it obvious the text came from a machine).

So first step I am thinking is using wordpress (already have bought a wp hosted plan on Hostinger for another project I was thinking) and use a blog theme or a news theme. I have found and bought a domain with my country’s extension. If the domain was in US the name of domain would be answers.com, or in French it would be like reponses.fr. Domain I bought is old, first registered on 2007 and actively used from 2020-2022. Used to be a blog that some people on a big municipality of my country used to write opinions. Nothing suspicious. Authority score is nothing 2 and it has 16 ref domains to it.

Second step after have 20 posts is starting the social media “war”. A FB profile and tik tok as tik tok works mostly localy.

If the project has any success and start getting traffic third step would be monetization by ads and maybe some affiliate links.

So I would appreciate any thoughts, any ideas, any help from the community.

Has this idea any chance to survive? Shall a blog theme be useful or a news theme would be broader to cover more topics? Better content will help and start building backlinks too?

Please share your lightness and kindness!

My thinking is starting a journey on that project and share the progress.

Hopefully my big post was not tiring and boring :)

Thank you all!

I've read the whole thing, and I think you're on the right track. Buying a good ccTLD was the right 1st step. I don't think you'll outrank the other 2 websites soon, but the start is definitely good :)

If you do manage to find keywords that your 2 competitors don't target (and this is where "keyword gap" functions from tools like Ahrefs / Semrush can prove useful), and given the domain you found, I think you will see some level of success

of course! If you rank for enough keywords to maintain a constant flow of traffic that can be monetized, why not?

hmmm, I actually don't know what to say here. Both types of themes will work with future categories, there's no issue here. I just don't know which theme / type of theme you should use (although I'd probably use a general theme like GeneratePress, Weaver Xtreme, Avada, Flatsome, etc...)

Better content will help and start building backlinks too?
both! Publish 100 posts at once if you already have them, and then try 2-3 posts a day for 1 year if you can manage to churn out so much content and have enough keywords to target.

And you can simultaneously build links too, albeit a few of them initially because your domain doesn't seem to have a proven history of backlinks

Thank you very much! I appreciate the time you spent to read and reply. God bless!

An aged domain is the best foundation imo
it will give you an edge over most sites with no history.

Thank you for your answer! Last months i am reading BHW posts everyday, trying to learn and figure out my way. Many experienced members have noticed same thing you did, the benefits of an old domain. Thats why i picked this up. It was the best choice with a relevant name, easy to remember and old enough although with no authority or backlinks.
