Ok, I apologize for the newbie question in advance, but I can't find what I'm looking for on any of the other threads here.

I have an ebook I just completed, and am building a site for it as we speak. From the research I've done, I think $17 is a good price for the book. Here's my problem--I looked at submitting it to CB, but it appears to me that most affiliates don't want much to do with it unless I give 50-75% commission. With a $17 price tag, that's a low commission even with me giving 75% and leaves even less profit on the table for me.

After looking at Adwords, I believe I can drive semi-targeted traffic directly to my site for a reasonable price. It's a fairly unique niche, I believe (I don't really want to give too many details yet). Anyway, with all that said, here's my question:

What kind of conversion rate can I estimate from those who actually go to my site? Obviously this is kind of a tough question because I know it depends on the sales pitch, the product itself, etc. I just am curious if I'm looking at an average of 1% or 10% of people buying once they get to my site. I really have no idea what to expect since the traffic will be relatively targeted. Obviously, I know you guys can't give me an exact number, but any experience you have with conversion rates would be helpful. I'm open to any other ideas you guys might have, but I have NO experience in IM and my technical skills are EXTREMELY limited. Thanks!

CB partners would drive a lot of sales if the ebook is popular, so take it at a guess that more sales = worth more in commission. Don't go into CB though unless you know your niche can be actively sold through their affiliation.

Ok, I understand CB would drive a ton of sales (if it can be sold there, not sure yet), but do affiliates even bother promoting for a $12 commission? And for some reason I never thought of it until now, but should I do BOTH?

The way most people make money on CB is by upsells or continuity products so at a 75% payout it is costing you 12.75 per customer plus what ever you make on the back-end product or service you would create to go along with your e-book
