New to Adwords... any ideas or tips?

I have never placed ads via Adwords but know I need to because I need to drive traffic to a site that isn't ranking well. It's on the first page for one keyword but off G for just about every other keyword.

Is there some software to help me make better ads or track which ads or keywords are rockin' the house?

Should I worry about click fraud?

Click fraud is an issue, but if you plan on doing PPC, it is part of the game.

Tracking ads comes down to testing. You need to put a couple up, see which one is getting the most clicks. The one with the most clicks wins after your test, so you dump the other and then make a variation of the winner. Then you test more. You keep on doing that over and over.

Most of the stats you need starting you are in the adwords back office. I wouldn't recommend buying alot of tools yet. Also, don't forget about Yahoo and MSN

Tracking your converting keywords is ESSENTIAL in any PPC campaign! If you do not track, you do not know what's working, and what is not. Plus the fact that your are also spending money where it need not be spent, as well as not spending money where it should be.

There are ton's of tracking applications for PPC (I have the majority of them), but there is one that stands out among most. And guess what? Its FREE!!

Go checkout Tracking202.c0m and download there free application. Its does some really neat things that most paid applications don't even have.

Next, your gonna need some training with Adwords. I learned it originally from trial and error, but I got a good solid start from Both John Reese's Traffic Secrets course, and Perry Marshall.

I don't know if anyone here has a copy of Traffic Secrets to lend you, but you can pickup Perry's book on Adword's for like $12 now over at Amazon. Great stuff.

Oh, and Adwords just got updated, so some of the stuff he will talk about is outdated, but it will still give you a good primer.

Is the pro version worth it? It integrates with G and Y and M. $19 to start.

Read that first for some training on adwords then just do it....
Invest as little money as possible in the first month since you will make a lot of mistakes... Well, I did...
