New PC after turn on nothing happens

This is unbelievable.

My 2 old PCs are exactly the same. Everything is the same To a T.

One accepts the new ram, the other doesn't.

Okay I know that I made everybody sick and tired today, and I made myself sick and tired, and it was just a helluva day.

But now it's over. Here's what I did.

Seeing as only one of my old PCs would accept the new Ram, I plugged both of them in it. I checked and it supports up to 32GB of Ram, and now it has it.

My other old PC remains with 16GB of Ram as it was.

And my new PC has 16GB of ram now (the Ram I removed from me old PC).

All 3 PCs are turned on, working, internet connected.

Am I happy? Well, no. But I'm like 80% happy. I didn't exactly lose anything other than the whole fucking day.

But 80/20 rule, it's good enough, enough time wasted, now it's time to move on.

That's all folks :)

@Visual Eagle you were right!

So I went to bed and it was really fucking with me, how come on my 2 old PCs (which are EXACTLY THE SAME) one could handle the new ram while the other couldn't.

Then I went and read a bit online, and there was talk about overcloacking and ram working/not working.

So I got outta bed and opened both PCs in BIOS, screens next to each other, and searched for differences. And I found them!

The PC where the new ram works has an "Ai Overclock Tuner" option and it's set to Auto - the other PC does not

The PC where the new ram works has an D.O.C.P option which allows me to choose "Profile#1," or "Profile#2," or "Disabled" - the other PC just allows me to choose disabled

I am 100% sure that's why on one of them the Ram works and on the other it doesn't!

OH AND BY THE WAY...

On the PC where ram works the D.O.C.P was "Disabled" by default and the ram was operating at 2944MHz. Now I set it to "Profile#2" and it's opearting at 3200MHz (I checked the motherboard and apparently it supports it).

So now, how do I enable D.O.C.P profiles and the Ai Overclock Tuner on the PC that doesn't have those options. I mean both PCs are the same, the BIOS versions are the same, it's all the same. And yet one has these sweet options that allow me to use the rams and the other doesn't.

Any ideas?

Okay so even though the PC where ram don't work doesn't allow me to set Ai Overclock Tuner or to change D.O.C.P, it does allow me to change Memory Frequency.

I changed it to DDR4-3200MHz, and then it took it a few seconds to restart, and it was a failed start. Windows didn't load, I could only get into BIOS.

So I restarted it again, and again it took it a while to turn on. I was wondering if it would at all or not.

Basically it boots in "Safe Mode." And I see it recognizes - Total memory 16384MB (DDR4-2400)

But I set it now to use Memory Frequency DDR4-3200MHz.

So when I now insert one of the rams that supports 3200MHz, it should work, right? Let's see...

DUUUUDE!

It turned on. Straight up. Like a motherfucker!

You were right mr @Visual Eagle

That did it. Both my old PCs are now running on 1 ram of 16 gigs.

Goddamnit man :)

...

And so I restarted the PC that wasn't working previously, and now all of a sudden it has the option to change D.O.C.P and adjust the Ai Overclock Tuner in BIOS.

So it wasn't that those options were missing from the BIOS as I thought, it was that there was no Ram in the system allowing for those options to appear. Sorta kinda.

And one little change on the Memory Frequency setting just fixed it right up.

...

For the record, Asus BIOS is pretty badass. Very good.

This AORUS whatever BIOS on my new PC is shit.

Okay well I'm in my new PC's BIOS now. Really gonna look around. I ain't scared of this motherfucker! :D

Like I said i've personally built lots of PCs and I've encountered this issue soooo many times. As for OC settings it really depends on the MOBO that you are using. Those cheaper ones might not have a few options that the more expensive ones have.

I got maximus Viii and the thing is a beast :P lets me overclock 6700k to 4.8-4.9 stable at 1.34v but again it depends on the setup.

Yo we are GOLDEN now!

I just figured out how to change the Memory Frequency on my new PC in BIOS. I'm not 100% sure that's all there is to it, but it should be. I'm literally about to swap rams, put one of the new rams in the new PC and give it a shot. Like right now.

Fingers crossed :)

Use XMP profile for OC as it sets it to 3200MHZ afaik. You do need to have the new ram installed if you want that option to be available tho since it probably won't work on the old ram as max feq is probably different.

Man there is no "XMP" option anywhere. I went through all the bios and there's nothing like that.

See what happened on my other PC was that the options were not available until I plugged in the new Ram. However in order to have it actually boot anything using the new ram, I had to change the Memory Frequency first. After I did, the D.O.C.P and adjust the Ai Overclock Tuner options became available.

So I did pretty much the same thing on the new PC. Didn't work. Same old problems :(

Although I'm reading here guy says - https://forums.tomshardware.com/thr...o-with-fx6300-and-gigabyte-970a-ud3p.1938951/

"You need to turn the cpu clock ratio from auto to manual and then you should be able to set it no problem. If you can't change something that you need to for it just look for the auto associated with it and set it to manual."

See I set the Memory Frequency to manual, but I left the CPU Clock Ratio to Auto. So I'll try to set that on manual also now and see what happens.

Have you tried using PS2 port for keyboard. It could be the USB ports are not working

This sucks. On the Asus motherboard I did 1 change and it worked.

On the Gigabyte motherboard I did a bunch of changes to get it to work. And I got it to work, I got the OC thing going, the XMP thing appeared and I could choose a profile, the PC booted using the new USB, all great.

But then I did a reset to optimized BIOS defaults and lost it again.

I did that because I did a bunch of changes and I was worried I had set it in such a way it would eventually burn the PC up quick. Playing with voltages and whatnot.

So here are the changes I made:

DRAM Voltage (CH A/B) - changed from auto (1.200V) to 1.350V ---
Memory Timing Mode - changed from Auto to Manual
System Memory Multiplier - changed from Auto (2400MHz) to Manual (3200MHz) ---
CPU Clock Control - changed from Auto (100.00MHz) to Manual (100.00 MHz) [maybe this one is redundant.. i changed it to what it was anyway]
CPU Clock Ratio - changed from Auto (3.60GHz) to Manual (3.90GHz) ---
Core Performance Boost - changed from Auto to Disabled
AMD Cool&Quiet function - changed from Enabled to Disabled
Global C-state Control - changed from Auto to Disabled

The problem is, I don't know which combination of changes did the trick.

@Visual Eagle how is this looking to you?

Now I'll try to change the stuff I marked in red above and then see if that works.

Okay those 3 changes alone did not do it.

This is what we have left:

Memory Timing Mode - changed from Auto to Manual ---
CPU Clock Control - changed from Auto (100.00MHz) to Manual (100.00 MHz) [maybe this one is redundant.. i changed it to what it was anyway]
Core Performance Boost - changed from Auto to Disabled
AMD Cool&Quiet function - changed from Enabled to Disabled
Global C-state Control - changed from Auto to Disabled

I'll do the red one now...

Nope...

Actually that did it.

System Memory Multiplier - changed from Auto (2400MHz) to Manual (3200MHz) ---
CPU Clock Ratio - changed from Auto (3.60GHz) to Manual (3.90GHz) ---
Memory Timing Mode - changed from Auto to Manual ---
CPU Clock Control - changed from Auto (100.00MHz) to Manual (100.00 MHz) [maybe this one is redundant.. i changed it to what it was anyway] ---

These 5 changes did it. But I think the last one was unnecessary. Hold on...

HAHA I went back on that last setting and when I entered BIOS after restart it told me the BIOS was reset to default settings xD

Okay. 4 changes. Do them all right now and it's over (should be).

DRAM Voltage (CH A/B) ------ changed from auto (1.200V) to 1.350V
System Memory Multiplier ------ changed from Auto (2400MHz) to Manual (3200MHz)
CPU Clock Ratio ------ changed from Auto (3.60GHz) to Manual (3.90GHz)
CPU Clock Control ------ changed from Auto (100.00MHz) to Manual (100.00 MHz)

DOOOOOOOOOOOOOONEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm about to plug in the second Ram and see if it works correctly. It's working with 1 RAM for sure :)

@Visual Eagle bro please look at these 4 changes I made. Is anything there.. excessive, unnecessary, dangerous for my PC's longevity?

It's always easy to fix a home PC. I have issues with a physical server now and can't fix it at all because it's 3000 km away from me.

Easy? I haven't slept for... 30 hours :D
