New PC after turn on nothing happens

Why? Maybe the problem is 30 hrs without sleeping :) Have a rest and continue with fresh/rested mind.

In fact I had compromised quite much and did wrapped things up and went to bed about 12 hours ago. And within 10 minutes of laying down thinking about my whole situation here I got up and just kept banging at it. One thing led to another and I actually fixed this whole thing, everything perfect exactly as I had initially planned.

But I'm no a believer in stepping away from it and clearing your head. I believe you throw 30 hours a day at it and then that's that. But I won't deny of course that getting some rest and starting fresh can do wonders.

Yesterday I was dead tired, and I just left the PC sitting on the BIOS page.

I slept, I woke up, I worked, all the while it was sitting on the BIOS page.

Then I decided to finally start using it, so I restarted the computer. Things were working fine when I did the restart. Normally when the OC isn't set the whole PC just freezes.

But after restart the PC wouldn't open. I knew what it was immediately. I removed the new ram and put in one of the old RAM stick and turned it on and entered BIOS, and sure enough:

"BIOS has been reset. Please re-config your BIOS setup items if needed."

Why did it auto reset?


I'm gonna set it to OC again and start using it. I'll be installing some things on it and do the windows updates and stuff, so I'll be using the PC proper and doing some restarts. If the BIOS resets on its own again, something must be done.
 
Maybe one of the things I did to set the Overclocking was a little too high and the PC to protect itself reset the BIOS. I don't know, I'm just shooting in the dark here.

One of the changes I did was

DRAM Voltage (CH A/B) ------ changed from auto (1.200V) to 1.350V

Now I changed it to 1.300V. Let's see if the overclocking works at this slightly lower setting.

So that worked. And after I did it the PC turned on with new ram and got instantly stuck. It was probably a fluke. I restarted it and it opened fine.

Then I restarted it again and it opened fine and I entered BIOS. Then I changed X.M.P to Profile 1 and restarted.

It won't turn on.
 
I put in the old ram again and turned it on. I entered BIOS:

"BIOS has been reset. Please re-config your BIOS setup items if needed"

I set it to OC again just like before and shut down the PC. Then I put the new ram inside and turned it on and it opened. Then I restarted and entered BIOS. This time I set the X.M.P to Profile 2.

After restart the PC... waiting... waiting... fuck nothing it won't turn on again. I betcha the BIOS resetted again.

Okay for whatever reason XMP Profile 1 or 2 both cause BIOS to reset.

So I'll just set the OC like I set it and leave the XMP at disabled.

I don't know. I hope I'm not setting the PC on a road to a quick burnout/destruction with the settings I set for the OC.

The changes I make:

DRAM Voltage (CH A/B) ------ changed from auto (1.200V) to 1.300V
System Memory Multiplier ------ changed from Auto (2400MHz) to Manual (3200MHz)
CPU Clock Ratio ------ changed from Auto (3.60GHz) to Manual (3.90GHz)
CPU Clock Control ------ changed from Auto (100.00MHz) to Manual (100.00 MHz)
 
Well, so I set the OC and put in the ram chips and turned on the PC, and it turned on fine.

I restarted it and it turned on fine.

For some reason I'm seeing a blinking red light next to the power button. I don't think that was happening before. What is that?

I read online and someone said it might be the CPU overheating. And in order to set the Overclock thing I changed the "CPU Clock Ratio" from 3.60GHz (default) to 3.90GHz.

I went to My Computer and right-click and Properties, and I have:

"AMD Ryzen 5 2600X Six-Core Processor 3.89GHz"

What if.... what if my Processor supports max 3.89GHz and I set it to 3.90GHz and this red light is screaming at me to reduce it because I did a stupid thing. But I don't know low I can go before I lose the Overclocking.


I guess I'll go in BIOS and set it to 3.85GHz and see what happens.

You know what, fuck this bullshit. I'll put in the old ram and turn on BIOS and set the Overclocking like I do and then put in the new ram and then turn the PC on and put the old ram back in the old PC and turn that one too and just continue with my business.

If the blinking red light next to the power button isn't something notifying me of the SSD reading/writing or something normal, if it's telling me there's a problem, well, I have problems too, the PC is just gonna have to live with it. I am done.

If you set XMP profile, you can see what kind of clocks you get for voltage and such. Just unset it and set everything manually though vram core and others should usually be left to default.


Maybe this might help you find optimal settings..

Your BIOS will reset if you install new ram and then the old one agaain (well it shouldn't but it can) since there are other timings set which arent compatible with your old ram.

I did take a look and only 1 change happens when I turn on XMP. But that particular setting I can't change manually. And it's nothing really.

The red light blinks every few seconds, but not in a constant fashion. I mean, it's not like it blinks once every 5 seconds. Every few seconds it might blink once or multiple times etc. But it's always blinking every 3-5 seconds.

I pretty much tried everything:

I had this at 1.350V, then tried 1.300 and it worked. I didn't try to go lower. But for sure I must set it manually because if I leave it on Auto the OC doesn't happen and Ram doesn't work:
DRAM Voltage (CH A/B) ------ changed from auto (1.200V) to 1.300V

I didn't try to go lower on this because the RAM is 3200MHz and the motherboard supports is, so I figure this is fine. But this must be manually set otherwise Ram won't work:
System Memory Multiplier ------ changed from Auto (2400MHz) to Manual (3200MHz)

I tried lowering this, but even at 3.85GHz the OC won't happen and Ram won't work:

CPU Clock Ratio ------ changed from Auto (3.60GHz) to Manual (3.90GHz)

If I don't do this the OC doesn't happen and my Ram doesn't work:

CPU Clock Control ------ changed from Auto (100.00MHz) to Manual (100.00 MHz)

Too high overclock on cpu or ram would probably be the issue.. Play around with core voltages.

There's not much room for playing around frankly. If I lower any of the things I changed the OC goes away and the Ram won't work.

I'll try lowering DRAM Voltage (CH A/B). That's the only thing I haven't tried lowering.

Ultimately I'll take out the new rams and put them in my old PCs. I know the old PCs can handle this Ram like a boss. I can set the XMP, it works, the ram just works on the old PCs very well.

And Ill take the 4 chips of Ram from the old PCs and put them all in the new PC. Then I'll reset BIOS and it will work great. The new PC seems to accept the old Rams very well.

In fact, for some reason the old PCs can fully utilize the 3200MHz of the new ram. The new PC stays at around 2900MHz, even though I have it set to 3200MHz and the motherboard supports 3200MHz.

This is what you get when you cheap out on a good mobo :p I think you got all the details now to fix the issue. You could've spent 50$ less on ram and more on mobo tbh.

I mean if you could spend $200 on RAM I am sure you could've simply taken a better mobo and a bit less MHz ram as there isn't much of a difference between 2666 to 3200

Well, yeah.

But the mobo says it supports 3200MHz and overclocking and XMP and everything. How was I supposed to know it wouldn't play nice with the ram.

Okay yes, if I knew better I'd probably have checked online for motherboard/ram compatibility like @satyr85 mentioned in one of his previous posts.

But I didn't, so I didn't. And so here I am, and here we are. Hi buddy :D

It's okay. Not the end of the world. I'll see how things go and if the new PC keeps having weird problems, I'll swap out the Rams between pcs and see how things go.

Old ram: 2x KINGSTON ValueRam 8GB DDR4 2400MHz CL17 - KVR24N17S8/8BK

New ram: Kingston DIMM DDR4 32GB (2x16GB kit) 3200MHz HX432C18FBK2/32

Funny. The old ram is CL17 but the new ram is CL18. I have no idea what that means :D but as far as I know the lower the better.
 
To be quite honest this could be anything! IMHO that board isn't Posting correctly.

There are a few obvious checks you can do:

1. Try to post without keyboard/mouse connected.
2. Try to post with just one ram chip plugged in - and alter the position to test too.
3. Check CPU for bent pins.
4. Check any plugs (Mobo power, SATA connectors etc etc)

Personally when faced with stuff like this, I try to pair down the new build to something absolutely bare. Hopefully, the bare-bones config will post, allowing you to gently add new parts until you find the bit that makes everything break.
