Hi friends,

Google is starting with the domains business and are sending invites to those who subscribed for updates .

I got one invite today . read the mail contents in image below.

URL for starting out is

https://domains.google.com/registrar

This is only for US presently & not available for India as of now.

So check out your emails else request for invite from the url given above.

aw. Google and their premium invitation techniques, they did the same for G+ hoping it would make it viral but ended up as a huge blunder.
 
Yeh this seems like another huge blunder too lol
godaddy and namecheap will be like the twitter and facebook for them

You can easily get cheaper domain and whois from go daddy with coupons.. Unless they bring in some miracle with the release, there's no hope for this.
 
It seems they have flat pricing @ $ 12 per Domain / Year. So there is no discount if you book domain for 5 or 10 years.
 
There are already Giants in this category! so they can't dominate this category!

Given some time i'm sure you could beat most if not all the current domain registers. What is the first thing you see when you open your browser? For most people it's Google. Every year more and more people are trying IM and the majority will want a site. I think they can do it but it doesn't matter, i'm happy with Namecheap as are most people with their current providers.
 
i would stay away from google even if they offer me domains for free!

wont let them dominate my life!

What's being shoved onto people's faces when they open up youtube? G+ but people still hate G+ and it's dying by the day..
 
Would having a domain from Google make SEO efforts more difficult, as they would know all sorts on info from the user down to where you log in from.
Just thinking that that may make having multiple domains from them a pain even with proxyies, no?

Free private WHOIS huh, well that's perfect for my catelog of fake PBN's just as long as Google doesn't look at their own documents ever... this isn't a bad idea for Google though. There is a LOT of profit, and I promise you they'll get into hosting as well because they are already into having servers EVERYWHERE and have written their own coding languages to make their servers fast as crap.
