Hi everyone,

My website was recently affected by negative SEO and also seems to have been hit by the Google algorithm spam update on August 26th. I discovered many spammy backlinks pointing to my site and have already uploaded a disavow file to Google Search Console.

I'm wondering:
  1. How long does it typically take to see recovery after submitting a disavow file?
  2. Is there anything else I should be doing besides disavowing bad links?
  3. Could the negative SEO have contributed to the algorithm penalty?

Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

t can take anywhere from several weeks to a few months to
see recovery after submitting a disavow file

Yes, negative SEO can contribute to an algorithm penalty
by creating spammy signals or content that makes a
website appear to be gaming the system

Recovery can take a few weeks to a few months after a disavow, just be patient.

Avoid building low-quality links yourself during recovery, it can slow down improvements.

I submitted many websites a while ago. Many of them got penalty because of mix content and spammy links. Here is few things I did, i experimented on several websites and some of them can work for you too:-
1. Disavow spammy links see if they are still showing up there try to resubmit again.
2. Fix your website structure, fix the content. If there is too much jargon on the website try to eliminate it. Try to give a new look to website generally they look for what you have changed within website after penalty.
3. If you have option try to move domain to new registrar and submit an appeal to google team that you have just purchased the domain and it had penalty.

For me 2nd option worked on 2 websites and third option worked on one website. It didn't bring back all the traffic but atleast brought back pages in the SERP. Otherwise they were obliterated.

Recovery can take 4–8 weeks after submitting a disavow file, sometimes longer depending on the links.

What makes you think the neg seo is over? My client is currently facing the spam of redirect domains and daily 100s of spammed urls pop up in GSC.

According to google, Now google ignores such kind of spam backlinks pointing to your website.

After you submit disavow file, It can even take months.

Recovery process is a lot longer because you must wait for algo to settle down.

Avoid building bad backlinks, Google is getting more and more aggressive lately against websites who using spam tactics, recovery can take up to few months.

It can take weeks, or even months, to restore your search rankings, depending on a number of factors, including the nature of the backlinks and the overall health of your site. Negative SEO can contribute to a ranking drop if Google
In addition to disavowing bad links, you should:
- Continuously monitor your backlinks to identify and remove any spammy links that may not have been disavowed.
- Focus on improving your site's content to restore credibility.

Recovery from a disavow can take a few weeks to a couple of months, depending on Google’s crawl and reindexing schedule

it usually takes a few weeks to a couple of months to notice any recovery — Google needs time to re-crawl and process it. Keep monitoring your backlink profile and clean up what you can manually. Also, work on adding strong, high-quality links and fresh content.

before creating a backlinks you need to check first the network graph avoid suspicious and dangerous network graph
