Negative SEO against all major domains?

It won't affect much for the big domains.

They have too much authority for a handful of guys to make them drop permanently. You might get some inner page dancing if you work at it, but beyond that, you will need A LOT more, and you can still have Google manually override it and get them their ranks back.

You won't hurt them their backlink profiles are way too massive to push them one way or another. I'm sure Google has a "whitelist" of big domains anyways that wont allow for negative seo to affect those domains.

Negative SEO is protected free speech. I'll say whatever the fuck I want, wherever the fuck I want, and link TO wherever the fuck I want, and as often as I want.

anyone saying that big sites have a golden ticket or are protected obviously hasn't really experimented.
I have been able to neg seo tripadvisor pages. I've taken pages from top 10 to not in top 1000. I've done it multiple times. I'm not saying that you could get their whole site deindexed or anything, but you certainly can neg seo an inner page.
And tripadvisor is part of the google "internet alliance"

Their authority wont be destroyed by negative seo done by few guys, unless you do something really big (and waste lot of time/resources which will gain you nothing as they'll bounce right back with a manual review)

I do not think that ZeroOne is properly expressing what he wants to discuss.
Everyone is speaking of negative SEO. I do not think that is what Z1 was getting at. As an example, many here use AA blogs for links. Over time those blogs become well known spam sites and G devalues any link from them. However, if large domains also had many links from those site, then G would have a much harder time devaluing the links without also affecting the larger domains. This would have the practical effect of mitigating any action G may take to devalue a link from a spam site, and would also make it much more difficult to tell if a site was a spam site or not. Many of those larger domains are paying customers to G, and it is not a good thing to piss off your paying customers.
What I believe the OP addressed was not negative SEO, but rather protective counter measures and monkey wrenches in the gears.

If they keep track of the backlink profile then they will just disavow all of the spam links but if someone really wanted to take down a site with enough persistence, money, tools, and know how i believe they could do it maybe not just by backlinks but publishing their content on other sites before it is indexed etc.
