Hi BHW

I’ve been creating and posting short gaming videos on Instagram Reels for a little while. Some of the videos get around 200–500 views, one reached nearly 1,000, but a few others barely get more than 20. It's been inconsistent, and I'm starting to wonder if it's worth continuing.

Here are some quick details:

  • The videos are short (10–20 seconds)
  • I use basic hooks or text overlays, but no voice-overs
  • I post regularly, but engagement is low
  • The goal is to grow traffic to my website.
  • My competitors are getting engagements more than me
  • the goal of the reels to people download from my website

I’m looking for advice from people with experience in content creation:

  1. Is this kind of performance normal when starting out with gaming content?
  2. What matters most in short videos — the hook, caption, hashtags, or something else?
  3. Would adding voiceovers or text-to-speech improve results?
  4. Is Instagram Reels the right place for short gaming videos, or should I try other platforms?
  5. How do you personally decide whether to continue or quit when things are slow?

Voiceover could help a lot, maybe you might wanna add one. Try crossposting on other social media. Use hashtags that are relevant with the videos.

Until you have posted at least 100 videos, don't even consider quitting coz you've not even started yet.

looks like you just got started. its normal for the first few videos to do poorly. which country are you in? some countries give more views than others, like philippines usually has alot more views than singapore (where i am in). what matters is consistency. you need to keep posting. and if possible, show your face. social means seeing another person. u can also post the same video on tiktok, facebook lemon8 youtube etc

Keep posting more videos, add shocking text as hooks, post atleast 50 videos and that look into the analytics

That’s totally normal at the start. Reels can be hit or miss, especially without consistent engagement. Try experimenting with different hooks in the first 3 seconds and post more regularly - momentum builds over time.

When you post Reels, just make sure you are rotating the IP and clearing the meta data of the posts.

Since how long you posting these reels and whats the kick behind posting this.

I mean use overlays and then edit and after that post and then potentially can expect the growth as per my own experience
