there are lot of accounts with a specific niche and all their posts are about those such as fitness etc. I was trying to go for a more "my life" route where I just post places I've been, my dog, foods I've eaten, beauty stuff currently enjoying. Is that going to be significantly harder than if I just focus on one area and maybe pop a dog photo or a food photo every now and then?
I'd love to do fashion/beauty/fitness niche but i don't have the looks or body. So far my photos showing green tea have been pretty popular and all my posts are my own photos.

I guess end goal is to be an influencer for lifestyle things and get sent free stuff. Should i start with one niche and expand upon those when i get enough followers?

Would appreciate some advice and tips. Really undecided.

Post about what you like and enjoy. Make sure the posts have HQ content/photos. Crap photos = Crap engagement. You don't want that.

Once you get to 10K+ followers (real) and 800+ likes per post, stop posting stuff for free. Yeah, right now you're happy to receive free stuff in exchange. But, once you get bigger, get real money for your posts; unless it's a huge brand like Levi's, Starbucks, and the like. If they are not known worldwide, you charge money to post stuff. Be ready to tell the person asking to send you free stuff to post, that you charge $XXX to collaborate with them. Otherwise, you're selling yourself short. Don't be a hoe, when you can marry the rich guy.

Are you a female or male? Regarding body issues, IG Transformation niche is HUGE. I thought of doing this to also make some dietbet $$$ from their "coach" program.

Quality Photos
Great use of captions/blog style posts
Engage with people who comment on your images

Having a personal account with influential power is pretty difficult to grow if you are just posting daily life pics. You are not standing out.

It helps if you are a female with the right shapes, but even that is no guarantee. Good luck.

I am a female. Skinny with some definition but def not trying to give up all carbs for super abs or anything. Maybe later down the line when I feel more ambitious. I have a dslr and lighting equipment so I can make pretty "instagrammy" lifestyle pics. Posting 2-4 times a day usually involving food or my shiba.

Like i answered above, I am female and in shape but def not those fitness model bodies. I'm just not ready to give up carbs and junk food haha. Would you say longer captions are better?

additional questions:

1. What would be my niche? Everything? Like if i post occasionally about working out or eating healthy, can I tap into that niche and do the follow/unfollow (or better techniques). Same goes with dogs or beauty stuff I post.

2. Will I need multiple accounts?

3. Would the follow/unfollow be the best approach?

4. Should I start posting pictures with me in them? Not doing it now bc it's kind of a hassle to dress super nice and style my hair

I'm a carb lover myself...LOL. I think with the caption length it depends on niche and message you want to convey. I think if you're a personal lifestyle brand, longer would be okay. Kinda like having a convo with someone you know. Don't take my word for it though, I'm just getting started ... LOL. I saw mention of it on a Wolf Millionaire video.

People warm to accounts when they can see the person behind it. Just think at the accounts you follow and look at how many more likes they get when they are in the picture... try and get a balance.

Just batch a load of images while ur hair and make up are good. Just change your outfit etc a few times and then drip feed them over the week/month...

Yeah I tried keto once and kinda forgot about how great carbs were until i stopped. Just for future references, is there like an actual community on IG that just helps each other get fit? Or are people just jogging down their progress? I would not mind getting some professional help if i ever decide to get ripped ha.

Progress so far:

Day 1: 25 followers
Day 2: 42
Day 3 (today and not over yet): 99

I think im doing alright for not having a specific niche. Really appreciate all the help! Maybe I'll start a progress thread over in the other sections.

How are you getting your followers? Manual follow/unfollow/commenting or using a bot? Engagement groups? I also have been focused on growing my main "personal" account and have been having trouble figuring out how to target/identify my audience

I started by posting some pics of my dogs and food. Based on those things, I started the follow/unfollow. On smaller accounts, I would comment and like. It's tedious. I wanted to go for a more beauty/fashion direction but y'know hair, clothes, etc but like you, I'm lost. If I'm doing 4 different things, is there still a theme? Or I include my dogs in all my beauty photos haha.

Most engagement groups don't want anything below 1k so I'm just rolling along for now. Kind of considering making a few other niche accounts to repost stuff from my main, assuming the niche ones grow at the same rate if not faster.

sounds like you want to be a vlogger. have you tried youtube??

Can't say my life is that interesting. My apt is messy and there's just not that much for me to talk about. I thought maybe i could build an image for myself through IG first, blog a bit and then take it to YouTube when I have more content and sense of who I am (internet wise). I didn't even add any of my friends to this new acct yet because I wanna wait to see how it goes. Add them all around 1k followers "surprise I'm pretty cool on IG" haha.
