I've been on this website for a while and been reading mostly from the Social Networking Threads. I have no clue what SEO is and Im trying to get a grasp on the importance of backlinking, blog write-ups, etc.

I have a website I built thats in the Real Estate niche and Im interested getting it ranked, but the only problem is....I dont know where to start. I found a backlinking automation tool on this site and I've been considering purchasing it but I dont know if thats the right move to begin with per se.

I also want to get into YouTube video marketing so that I can grasp visitors from YouTube and lead them onto my website. Im considering using Mass Video Blaster for that as well.

Whats the general rule of thumb when it comes to building websites and getting them promoted???

If there's a Sticky that I missed, Please lead me into the right direction so that I dont end up wasting time & money

Start doing things manually for a start instead of looking for tools. Build web2.0s and buy pbn links.

You have a lot of reading to do. Look for some not-too-old journey threads and follow the method of any successful one you find. In a nutshell, build some web 2.0 links by publishing articles with your link in them on do-follow web 2.0 platforms and blast those articles with links from GSA. Anchor text diversity is important.

This is not the only method you can use to get your site ranked, but it's newbie-friendly. Good keyword research is imperative so you don't waste all your time trying to rank for a massively competitive keyword.

Start reading the Google Webmaster Guideline to understand the basics of how to rank a website. Once you've done that, find some journey threads, test different methods, and find out what works for you.

By the way, the ultimate noob question is, "What is Internet marketing?".

I advise not to start with one of the hardest niche like real state, go first for something easier. ranking these days real state you need to be a super seo guru
Actually, you need to ascend even further beyond to a Super SEO Guru 3.

Real estate is a tuff start, but i wish you good luck and never back down.
FOCUS: Follow One Curse Untill Sucess
The key is diversity mate and alot of tests until you figure out what is the best for you.
i would suggest that you start with on page optimization before you start backlinking. when you are done with on page SEO then start considering off page SEO, but as i said above you have to make your own tests to figure out what is the best for you :)

best wishes.
Leobar.

I just wanna say Thx to everyone who took their time to leave a comment. Im forced to do the real estate niche because Im taking care of my mother's real estate business online while she handles all the leads she getting from Realtor.com. The broker of the real estate firm has experienced loads of success by going the online route. He has many websites built from yola.com of local communites he's trying to sell and he creates short youtube videos to lead people to a specific community website. He recommends going after communities that have low competition on google so that way your landing page will be #1 on the first page. There's a lot more to this whole online marketing thing....I just wanted to find some more information on this topic.
