Dehn International is focused around lighting (I assume that this is the most relevant to your niche as you wrote lightning again)
Nevermind, saw the exact keyword that you are exactly trying to rank for. I don't see the problem here. Most of these sites are absolute generic crap. They can easily be outranked with a pillar content.
Global site
Dehn-international is a global site, I am pretty sure that you aren't targeting at a global scale. If you don't have $30k/month to spend here don't go this Global route. Electrical components manufacturing firms are pretty old school, but spend like crazy when it comes to buidling links from authoritative magazines. The per link rates they pay are anywhere between $350 to $700 for advertorial placements.
I would pickup a target location, and would only build links from localized sites in my region. I will optimize the site for this specific region than the generic global route. That way you can build a sustainable strategy and expand step by step.
Poorly written content - Quality, Reading time, Reading scores
If I were asked to do this, and I apologize for being so upfront about this, I would strictly look at your content quality. I know this electronic niche, and honestly, most of the companies write shit content. Average reading time is like 1-2.5 minutes max!
Reading time matters, especially where the CPC is greater than $3. Get your avg reading time greater than 4 minutes.
I went through the articles as well, saw that none of them have 2,000+ words articles. Lol! Thats just because whoever did content research for this had no idea on what they can write, there's always a lot of things to write. The Flesch reading score was pretty low as well.
Mid level competition - Avg DA, less links on long tail
The DA of all sites ranking for these keywords is on the mid side (US). If your goal is to outrank them for the long tail "How to XXX protection", I think you have a very easy opportunity here as none of the blogs are truly optimized for SEO here.
On page isn't everything, plus no one has done extensive linkbuilding for this long tail either.
Add a CTR
Another easy to make observation here is that most of these sites offer nothing to download, interact with, etc
I would simply create a cost calculator, lighting protection insulation guide locked content etc.
