hi guys
I want to dust up some old one pager websites and turn them into wordpress. I need your input on where to install/reinstall wordpress to gain better seo.

this is how it is now:
www. my-great-domain. com/my-great-domain
I have a 301 redirect from / to subfolder /my-great-domain where the wordpress is installed

question is, should I reinstall/move the blog to root or is it OK to leave where it is (folder)

Any suggestions and comments are welcome.
thanks in advance

just use fantastico dude..it automaticlly installs it for you

If you want wordpress to be your main site, then you should install it in your root folder. If you want wordpress to function as the main site and the blog, just configure your settings from within the wordpress admin panel.

Create a page called "blog" and then set your posts to appear on that page. Then, you can use the other pages in wordpress as whatever you want them to be.

If this is a white hat site, Matt Cutts http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/suggested that one should consider installing WP on sub folder as /blog so that you get more back links that way. But i prefer installing into root folder.

thanks guys,
sorry maybe I was not clear.
WP is whitehat and will be main content, I will not have it as addition to the site but it is the actual site. I am familiar with installing and using WP as main page, eg use static page as index, etc,
I was just wondering the SEO aspect of it. Does it matter to the search engines if you have the content on root or subfolder.
