[Need Advice] Shall I Remove AMP from my Site?

Hi friends,

I need some serious advice from you.

I have come to the point where I need to decide whether to AMP or not AMP!

I have a website with around 1500 pages and I have included AMP plugin (as I always do for my all websites). But today I am thinking of removing AMP plugin and see what happens. I started thinking so after reading threads from people in BHW who said AMP is dead. I also encountered issues in GSC titled 'Alternative page with proper canonical tag' where almost all the pages are AMP.

One thing also came to my mind is that removing AMP will help me save the crawl budget too? I am not sure...what do you think about it?

If AMP doesn't have any future then why should one bloat their sites with additional AMP plugins? Not to forget you encounter many errors in GSC regarding AMP that increase your work load too!

So what do you guys suggest please let me know.

Don't remove it yet. It won't do any harm if it's well, but the results are completely unexpected.

Personally, I'm starting to remove AMP in very little sites with barely no traffic to see if this affects by any means

Check your site: command to see if you have amp pages already indexing. Definitely AMP is an standard, not only of Google but also very useful to covert to other formats like instant articles in Facebook

In my case, I will start removing once

1. The burden of having to maintain those AMP page is bigger than just removing it
2. I have more confirmation with my current testing that this is 100% harmless.

Definitely not currently the time to do such at least, for me.

And if you have simply added AMP like 1 week ago, simply remove it and see what happens. Currently I'm not installing any new site with AMP.

What if, by the time you want to remove it and you realize thousands of AMP pages are indexed, then?

Indexing and traffic or just indexed?

If just indexed, I would not worry much.

Alright I got your point. If there is not much traffic then you wouldn't hesitate. This is right.

I disavow all the amp pages.

I think this is not a good Idea.
