Im hosting a porn website from my old PC, it was fine at first but as the site grew videos are not loading, i want to build a dedicated server, need advice for a server for like 500 users watching videos simultaneously, and no, i dont want to use AWS or other. The videos are averaging in size 100 - 400 mb, with a fixed bitrate of 650000 and 720p

If you're using your own PC, you are using your home internet connection right ?
Be careful about bandwidth limit, as unlimited might not be a real unlimited with this kind a traffic size.

Go with AWS
That's a really bad idea, as AWS bandwidth costs a lot!

Get yourself a server with a reasonable amount of bandwidth. PhoenixNAP offers 15TB of bandwidth per month with a 1Gbps port. Hetzner, with a bit more relaxed rules, doesn't limit bandwidth and can be a bit cheaper as well.

If you own the copyright for those videos, then everything will be fine, but if you don't, then things are a bit trickier.

Brother, i dont own shit, all the videos are copyrighted :))

Just get a good offshore dedicated server with 1gbps full duplex uplink port and all will be fine, your videos will load to the end users without any buffering (as per your current traffic)

Can I ask why you don't want to use Aws and gcp etc?
Its a weird motive, i like computers and i feel like i have complete control over the files if i have my own server + ive never used aws so i dont even know where to start, even if i did, i dont think that would have change my mind, and like i said im really into IT so i want to learn more about servers and form my experience the best way to learn is to make something, even if it fails, you still learned something

and i dont have to pay for storage every month, i only have to pay for the hardware and the electricity(which isn't a problem)

I would also like to know how one could have their own streaming server to serve the videos, what type of specs do your computer need to do such thing?

I was wondering if you are sure it's not a bandwidth problem.

In the past, I configured a server for a client who had an adult website it was on a Ryzen 5 3600 with 64GB ram and some NVME drives I can't remember the concurrent users but it used around 300TB per month.
