The gallery on the sidebar may be too much, I might consider taking it down. The gallery page isn't pointless though, mensfitness.com which is a hugely popular and widely known site has an entire gallery section as well. My target demographic is young men who are into weight lifting and 95% of this guys get into so that they can get more beautiful women. The gallery is something they want to see.
I don't see what the PR has to do with the advertisments?
I don't have primary keywords for the site. I'm trying to design the site with 100% the user in mind, not keywords. After what you've said I might consider focusing more on keywords though and trying to rank for certain ones... that's probably the traffic source I'm looking for right there. I just don't want to be paying for backlinks at the moment though.
I understand the concept, I just don't see pinterest as a big place right now where guys go to stalk girls... facebook still takes that one. I don't really know of any guys in my demographic to ever check out pinterest for any reason.
Okay so look. If you had said something like, "I'm playing around with this site as a hobby in my spare time and it's just for fun." I would translate that down to "whatever" and my response to that would be "whatever" and you'd get my "whatever" opinion(s) which would be based on my personal philosophy that I do not put more energy into someone else's situation than they are willing to do, but you've not said it like that. What you've said is that this is (more or less) intended to be your life's work (or income, whatever) meaning "IMPORTANT" so you get my full-on, 100% opinion that (to my thinking) is at the same level of "seriousness" as you are about your website.
Having said that, while it's good that you are "taking it all in" (which tbh is better than most people can do), at the same time you should seriously also take into account that the weakest link in your business plan is YOU. Other more knowledgeable people are giving you serious, hard-core opinions and you assume to be qualified to evaluate those opinions. This next part isn't aimed at you, but I see the dynamic all the time, and I am going to describe it to you as "the thing you need to watch out for" because unless someone spells it out, you might make he "classic blunder" of falling into this dynamic, which can result in the degradation of your future success.
What I see many other people that are novices soliciting the opinions of experts is they dumb-down those expert opinions to the most basic and retarded level and call it "input", when the glaringly obvious fact to those that know is that it's only "input" to the idiot being given the knowledge because 1) they aren't smart enough to understand what they've been told and 2) are arrogantly stupid in their belief of their own adequacy. They are too stupid to know that they are stupid. That's called arrogance, and this is the "classic blunder". I am expert in certain areas, and I see this CONSTANTLY, and my 100%, absolutely disciplined and never make an exception response when I detect this level of stupidity is to stop ALL assistance to the offending party immediately, unless they pay me money in which case then, and only then am I willing to again make the benefit of my knowledge, time & energy. Some people are only able to value something when they actually pay for it, and the only thing you can do for those people is make them pay, otherwise they hear your knowledge, dumb you down to their level, then dismiss that knowledge for having come from someone that they have reduced. Note that in the beginning of the process, the expert's opinion was solicited because it was expert and they didn't have a clue. After you give them a clue, they forget what life was like when they were stupid. Worse than assuming they've risen to an expert's level, they have made the extraordinary step of dumbing the expert down to theirs.
So, that's your danger. You don't know jack. Not your fault, but you don't know jack. You really don't. So don't waste time explaining the "why" of things, nor of talking about your finances as if your bank balance somehow mitigates the fact your mediocre website has no traffic. Your funds haven't got shit to do with your traffic. Your traffic sucks because your website sucks, and if you had 3 million dollars in the bank and a blond on each arm your website would STILL suck. The fact you attempt to "explain" things only underlines your resistance to the idea that your website sucks and the consequence of that is to discourage anyone that has a clue from telling you the truth.
So, do you want the truth, or do you demand people cater to your ego by pretending that you are an "equal partner" in an illusionary relationship instead of a below-average student getting advice from people that know better. Your real future depends upon which decision you make. This is a red pill/blue pill moment, and I'd advice you to get up, walk away from the computer and think about this one, and I mean right now.
Continued.
PR0 means NOTHING. It's a NOTHING website. An 8 yo girl scout can put up a PR0 website. I took a PR0 website and got it to PR1 in about 30 days. It says something about your site, and it says something about YOU. You can't (because you didn't) make your PR0 website a PR1 website. Yet, you arrogantly believe that it can withstand the negative impact in traffic by placing ads on it and creating the negative "spam effect" on a site that doesn't even have any goddam traffic. That's (as I mentioned earlier) just about the stupidest thing you could do in terms of telling the world what your site is about (a crappy site with ads on it) and you (someone that has no clue whatsoever what your site tells people about it and you). So, here I am giving you a clue, and after the 1st iteration you are still clueless. This is a HUGE blind spot, and is my first supporting point on the first thing I said. You aren't qualified to evaluate expert opinions. This is not "input", this is REALITY, and anything that doesn't have immediate resonance with you as TRUTH ought to be a big, bright red waving flag telling you about a problem you have with you.
And you missed/failed to address my most important points. Why would someone go to your website? You can't say. If you can't say, the hello? you website is going to reflect that absence. "Welcome to www.noreasontocomehere.com". That's your REAL URL, and it's going to stay that way until you can start to answer that question.
And, after I posted my post, you still go back to those other website, "explaining" why your unacceptable areas should stay, because "other websites are doing it". Well, those other web-sites suck, and it sounds to me like your highest aspiration is to become a pale imitation of websites that suck. I wouldn't go there, No one I know would go there. You can think others might go there, but your opportunity doesn't lie with competing with suck-ass websites for the suck-ass traffic of people that are stupid enough to go to them. Your economic opportunities lie with soliciting traffic from people (like me) that would REJECT those websites because they suck. But no, you, expert that you are, choose instead to COPY that shit. Sorry, but the only word to explain that is stupid. Like I said, red pill/blue pill. Do you want to be stupid for the rest of your life, and wondering why your lame-ass, pale imitation of a "major" and shitty website can't generate any traffic no matter how many spammy, manipulate and "tricky" blackhat techniques you waste time & money on, or do you instead want real success that happens naturally and honestly because you are giving something to people that they cannot find anywhere else?
It's an either/or choice, as am I. Pick one.
