To all members contemplating whether or not to use namecheap as a host, I personally suggest NOT TO.

Namecheaps support team can be run more efficiently and smarter by a team of well trained monkeys, literally.
I'm not the type of person to argue nor complain, but this experience was absolutely brutal, an issue that would have been resolved in 30-50 seconds took 40 minutes WITHOUT an answer.

The question I had for them was what my email address was that I used to register my account, because I forgot it (Bought namecheap 2 months ago and never used it, until I tried to today) and apparently I needed more proof then my paypal receipt that I actually bought their $20 hosting.Made absolutely no sense considering I used paypal to buy it, I even had unique transaction number and everything.

Note for current Namecheap users, their livechat support team is run by poorly trained monkeys.

**Please Note** This is just my personal opinion, I'm not saying they are a horrible company, nor am I saying their hosting /domains are bad. Their live support was horrible in my case to the point where I felt it necessary to warn other members.

NameCheap is excellent when it comes to buying domain names and their support is just as great, but it wouldn't surprise me if their hosting was subpar. After all, just look at GoDaddy's abysmal hosting; it seems as if domain companies that offer web hosting as a secondary service have a difficult time handling web hosting services.

Perhaps it was just an unlucky / bad experience. Their hosting isn't bad, and I myself have bought several domains from them, but their live-chat support was unbelievably horrible, enough to make me never go back to them.

Do you call this bad support? That they required you to submit all kind of documents in order to tell you what email did you use to register???

First off,you should organize yourself, keep a record of your purchases pw/email and so on.

Second, i would be very happy to see any company breaking my ballitos before they give out any information about their clients.

IMO you should be happy that they try to protect your data! As for their responsiveness, many people bug them with quite stupid questions for sure,so live support takes time everywhere.

I disagree you with you, trust me, if you read the chat logs you would agree 100% with me.
For starters, I own 12 websites and over 20 emails, yes I should be more organized but that is no excuse for the absurd responses I was getting from their support team.

The ONLY proof I bought the hosting was with a paypal receipt (which was sent to my paypal email that I have access too) The support team said paypal isn't a valid proof of purchase, even though I used paypal to purchase the hosting (WTF?!)

Secondly, I wasn't asking for personal information about my account, all I was asking was to reset my email account OR username associated with my hosting account (because I forgot it) and they won't do that, nor refund me. I have full proof from paypal that I purchased the hosting for my domain name, I have access to my domain to prove that it's mine, I also have a unique transaction id showing I paid namecheap and they still won't do anything.

Thirdly, I would not have been pissed off if they didn't send me pre-made automated messages the ENTIRE chat, after 40 minutes of receiving useless answers I gave up.

I found namecheap's GUI to be outdated, and annoying to make simple changes in. I prefer to pay more for my domains and have a better GUI to manage them like name.com

EDIT: I just saw this was about hosting, omg sorry.

    I prefer name.com - Namecheap's domain propogation takes FOREVER...

Name.com is instant and I can get a website up within minutes.

So, Godaddy/Hostgator/Namecheap, all of them are labeled crap from bhw users.

Best Technique is probably just buy your hosting from a Hosting Company who have a BST, that way you can just open a shitlist thread if they fail to deliver the product you paid for.

I got an email from their support team saying they 'Can't refund my purchase nor provide me with the username or email I used to register to the account'bunch of idiots. Apparently my receipt from Paypal along with my drivers license (photo id) wasn't enough proof I bought $20 hosting.

**Please note** I NEVER ONCE ASKED FOR MY PASSWORD NOR A PASSWORD RESET! All I wanted was to know what my username or email I used was (I know all my passwords)

I've worked with all 3 companies, so I can confirm that some Black Hat users may dislike these companies for the following reasons.

    • GoDaddy's hosting speed and hosting panel are slow and low-quality (they make backing up your site very difficult), although they're good for domains and have decent support.
    • Hostgator has decent hosting speed (the homepage of my HostGator site loads in 1.43 seconds despite being 4.5mb), although their support isn't always the greatest (especially their live chat).
    • NameCheap is great for domains, but I can't comment on their hosting since I've never used it myself.
Many new members also regurgitate what senior members say, so if a senior member says that HostGator sucks, then all of the new members will say this as well without ever trying out their services.

Never had an issue with NameCheap. Their hosting is exactly as advertised and their live chat support has been nothing but professional and effective. But then again, I've never hit them up to remind me what my email is.

I have hosting with namecheap and it is Good. Btw OP. I don't see why you label them as Nightmare... They are only following procedures.
