After reading so many other peoples inspirational progress on here, I've decided to start my own journey. Partially to motivate others who are currently at my level, but mostly to motivate myself. Nothing new here really, most of what I am doing I have read here on this very forum. I'm a complete noobie at IM, only having made a few sites and I have never made money. However, I do feel as if I know what I am doing now(mostly) and plan on seeing this through. I'll be doing a little bit of everything, this is also a learning process for me too.

    The Plan and Research:
I've found a fantastic niche that looks ripe for the taking. There are so many easy to rank for keywords, that I am surprised that nobody else has found it. Perhaps because the CPC is less than a dollar for most KW's. What I did was I looked through many of the popular niches online, and then I used longtail pro to determine how competitive they were. From a single keyword I branched off and found this massive niche. What I was looking for were sites in the top 10 with the majority of the sites having a domain authority under 50, and page authority under 40, the less the better. I'm also looking to make sure that the sites are not ecommerce sites, like Amazon, as these are especially hard to out rank, and I look to see if the main keyword is in the title. I found a niche with a lot of keywords and a lot of room to grow, so I went after it.

    Content Implementation:
Now that I have my niche, I've begun creating the content. I am doing everything 100% on my own, no outsourcing for now. I purchased a brandable partial match domain and set up all of the plugins and social media. Because I am new to IM and have only a paltry amount of knowledge on external backlinking, I've decided to build my site in a silo structure, so that I can minimize the need to do external backlinking. I'm going to start by building out my homepage, and then making my second tier. I'm about half way done with this tier, and have a few additional articles on the third tier. By the end of this week I hope to have 1 2000 word static home page, and 30 1-2k support pages. I've got a few third level articles but that is not my focus, right now I'm just trying to flesh out my site as much as possible.

    Off Page SEO:
I manually spun one article in my niche using TBS, and used LAIO to submit it to about 50 article directories, 50 bookmarking sites, 10 web 2.0's, a couple of RSS feeds, 50 wikis, along with a few video submissions using a short video that I made. In addition, I made a few doc, audio, and logo submissions. I've also purchased Buzz Bundle, and spend about 30 minutes each day making relevant blog and forum comments as well as tweets. All of my backlinks are the URL of my site, or name of my "brand".

After I have built out my site completely, I plan on building web 2.0's, with 5 pages of manually written content. I haven't decided if I am going to build one for each of my categories yet, but at least one for each of the categories that I want to rank for the most, it really depends on where I am at. I'll start with 5. In addition, I've purchased a couple of PR 3 expired domains, and I plan on building those out to go along with a link to the home page of my site.

I plan on leaving my web 2.0's alone for at least a week, and then I'll start creating backlinks using GSA+KM. I currently do not own this software, nor have I ever built out a web 2.0 properly, but I have seen tutorials on how to so I know what to do. How aggressive will I build out my tier 2 links to my web 2.0s? I don't know, probably about 500 links to each property to start with over the course of a couple weeks. On week 2 I will add the links to my money site from the web 2.0s. In the mean time, I will be building out the third tier of content with at least 5 500 word articles to each of my second tier pages. That is 150 articles, but this is the final step for me and a long term project while GSA creates back links and I wait for my keywords to rank.

    Current Status and Future Updates

I started near the beginning of this month, and right now I am getting between 5-10 visitors a day. I've got about 20 articles up, and most of my main keywords are in the top 100 of Google. I'll try to continue to update this daily with my progress and with what kind of content I add to my site. If anybody has any suggestions or would like to make a comment, go for it!

TBS is not worth it...go with WordAI.

Silo is being done by way less people. Everyone is looking to make quick cash. Make use of this goldmine :)

    Good luck.

Thanks! Yes I've always had trouble as well because of poor keyword research/lack of knowledge. I've made life a whole lot easier on myself by doing the proper research.

    Thanks!

I know about the tricks to using WordAI, someone showed me how to use it help semi-manually spin content(I spent 3 hours spinning with TBS but with WordAI I could do it in 20 minutes) and I hope to use it in the future. But right now, I've already invested so much into the other tools and I already have TBS for a year so I've pushed that can down the road a bit. WordAI is just too expensive for me right now for how many times I will use it, but maybe once I get this website profitable it won't be :)

Interesting journey - I have made a couple of silos which are doing quite well and starting to ramp up the off-page seo myself so keen to see how gsr works with you (never had much luck with it in the past...).

    Good luck!

So just a quick update on what I did yesterday. I got a lot done, including fixing a busted ball joint on my car which took 3 hours.

    1. Edited the main page, added about 200 words of content and made my home page more relevant. I was focusing too much on a keyword I was trying to rank for and not the brand name, but that has remedied and my title is now 100% relevant.

    2. Edited another landing page, added 1500 words of content

    3. Created a 1500 word landing page

    4. Created three 700-800 word support pages for the new landing page. Probably a bit off tangent but it made sense the way I formatted the landing page

    5. Edited my sites header and added a "logo link" on the side bar. I noticed that my inner pages weren't linking back to my homepage due to me disabling the top header. The theme is somewhat cumbersome to maneuver around while maintaining the silo structure, but that is fixed now. I like the look of the theme, its just getting a handle on how to work around some of its limitations.

    6. Added 7 PR2 Wiki links and 2 PR3 Social Bookmarks, and a couple of manual blog comments. I'm going to tone down the wiki submissions and just use PR4+ from here on out. That should give me about 50 wiki links in total. Anybody have any suggestions here? I don't want to overdo it.

    Results:
Yesterday I had 20 visits to my site, was ranking on page 5 for a KW with 1,900 exact matches and a dollar CPC. I don't think that ranking will last, but was a moral booster none the less.

Today I plan on refocusing on building out the landing pages, because I am way behind. I also asked my brother to make some images for these pages(hes much better at PS than I am), and he only has made a couple so far. Hopefully he delivers some more tomorrow.

Ill be watching your journey, keep it up! I am also on a adsense journey except im attempting to create an authority site... not easy at all. Content creation seems to be easy but link building seems to be the hard part in my opinion. eapecially because i hate paying people to link build

Sounds like you are off to a good journey, keep it up OP! Also try to create quality web 2.0 properties with unique contents rather then going on for spun & low quality stuff.

I got your PM candybar but I can't PM myself until I have 15 posts. Sounds like a good idea though, once I get those posts I'll PM you.

    Thanks!

Yep, I definitely plan to do this. I only spun the initial article so I could get some base links via doc sites/wikis/article directories. They aren't high quality links, but I plan to cap them at 100. Shouldn't I be somewhat diverse? I'm saving my high quality links with the hand written content for later :)

Thanks for sharing. if you don't mind, i get a few questions: each of your supporting article target a keyword or not? what's your internal link strategy?

Yes, each of my supporting articles I target a keyword. You can still rank the supporting articles, but it is a bit more difficult, the landing pages are getting most of the juice. However, as long as you maintain the linking structure within the silo/theme you can just add links within the silo pointed at the supporting articles you want to rank. I can't link yet or I'd point you in the direction of my link building strategy.

For everybody who has been PMing me, I've been getting them but I do not have enough posts to send back private PM's. I'll hit that number in the next day or two and will get back with you all. I've actually made at least 15 posts but for some reason they are not showing up.

    Yesterdays update for site:

Didn't do a whole lot on the site, I had family Christmas pics and was helping my girlfriend move. Did read a bunch of information on how to set up a proper web 2.0 to help rank, as well as did some research for future content purposes. I want to make sure that these sites are still ******** and are tolerant of a spammy linking profile. Weebly looks good but I need to use several sites. Added 3 PR 4 Wikis and 3 bookmarks to the money site.

In terms of ranking, as expected, the 1,900 word KW which made it pretty high up the serps disappeared from the rankings completely, I am sure that the initial ranking was due to the google fresh content bump. There is also another KW which gets 5,400 searches per month that I was ranking for in the top 100 for about a week, and no longer appears at all in the serps. This is frustrating to me, because there is a 3 page 2 month old garbage site on page 1 for that same KW. I did a backlink check, and all of the juice which is going to that site is coming from just 3 domains, goes to show you what a few powerful backlinks will do for your site.

As for the other KW's that I am tracking, they have all either stayed the same or moved up. This is promising to me because I haven't added any support articles, nor have I created any direct back links to these pages. I think the best ranking I have right now is a KW which gets 500 searches per month, and is appearing on page 2.
