My intro by LvldUp

Can the ancient dropshipping model ever change and adapt to include more sellers with bad credit?

  • No, this is how it will always be. As a sourcer you take the good with the bad.

  • It's only bad for those with bad credit, let's make sure not everyone can get into the game.

Hey everyone,

Just decided to join this forum to get more insight on the whole e-commerce game.

As of now I've been managing an online clothing boutique for women (as a guy this is not my cup of tea, but it pays the bills) and looking for ideas and to learn more about other opportunities.

I'm not sure about anyone else in the e-commerce game, but I think there is an opportunity to fix a major segment around the ancient dropshipping model, anyone that's up to chop it up sometime, I would love to get some feedback on my way to try to fix it.

Till then,

This is LvldUp

Dropshipping through the internet is barely 20 years around and you call that ancient? :D

Welcome

Welcome, You have made the right choice by joining the forum, i would highly suggest you to check out the IM journey sections, there are some really good methods/guides are posted here. Dropshipping isn't my thing as i think it involves alot of work and hassles like refunds, i prefer affiliate marketing.

In terms of technology and the gig economy, I really think it needs to change. It seems to be good for a few people that persevere or have the funds to throw money at the problem, while others can be financially ruined.

I believe there is a way to make it fare, competitive, and safe for everyone. Right now the manufacturer that have a good product win, while sourcers that are doing SEO research start saturating the market for that product and screwing others that find the Golden Nugget first. In other words, there is a limited time of being the top dog selling that product until the next dog starts sniffing out the opportunity. In the end, your hoping to make a profit or your money back before that happens.

In a perfect world a manufacturer should be open to allowing sellers to only buy on demand, not bulk. Just based on the premise that when I'm stuck with inventory that is now a give away, I 100% of the time will never buy from that manufacturer again.

I understand that manufacturers need selling protection and sellers need an option to buy in bulk to get the best price, but what is the benefit if that seller is only a one time buyer and moves on, or is put out of business because they've allowed for over saturationb of that product, even in the private label arena.

I believe a new dropshipping model where an intermediary with brand trust on the seller and manufacturing side could be the fix, almost like escrow but with a market place for an unlimited number of qualified manufacturer can sell their goods.

A seller with good or bad credit could pay into a monthly subscription that gives them a bank account that works for Amazon sellers accounts. The catch is the account is controlled like escrow by the third party intermediary, so the manufacturers and the seller see the funds there, so both parties can have transparent trust in that the manufacturer will be paid and the sellers gets the mark up.

If the intermediary gets proper funding like any startup, sellers can build a reputation to get higher percentage of their funds released on a net 7 basis; that's what is missing in the industry right now.

In fact, this also would benefit manufacturers that understand that they could have more sellers pushing their sku's if they know they will get paid and had buyer protecting to allow for more seller to have an opportunity to buy on demand, instead of bulk do the seller has more liquid assets to push for the next money maker. Almost like a crowdsourced savings.

Not sure if any of that made sense, but would love to get feedback.

Welcome to the real and I'm glad it works like this because if it weren't all the lazy people could do it too.

IM is not easy and most certainly not for everyone.

Uhm what?? This is business and it's as fair for you, as for me as for anyone else. Business is taking risks and if you can afford to lose you shouldn't have start with it in the first place.

In a perfect world I would have had a foursome with Michelle Rodriguez, Eva Mendes and a young Salma Hayek.

What do you think dropshipping is? It's exactly what you just stated, you buy something when someone did an order on your site. Buying in bulk thus inventory is like normal eCom.

Yeah this would never work, You can use VCC or DCC to buy on Amazon if you can't get a CC.

So..It's nice you thought about all these things but it's a waste of time as it's not going to happen now move on and make some more mulah.

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm just looking for option to break in to the market, my funds are limited so a business model like this would be a great help and I know others like myself would see a benefit as well.
