My first media buy...

When buying ad space do you guys prefer impressions or monthly set payments?

Kudos for starting a Media Buy and entering the exciting world. Just some comments:

- great job doing a controlled test of 20,000 impressions to each ad.
- always keep industry averages in mind, CTR to be expected would be .2% which would drive 40 clicks from each ad.
- At the industry average you are paying $.50 per click at your CPM rate.

Knowing those averages and numbers, try and reach out to your advertiser that you are an affiliate for and see if they have any information on expected conversion rates on their sales page. They should have some type of idea, especially if it has some gravity. If they tell you, 2% for example.

100 clicks should produce 2 sales.
100 clicks cost you $50
2 sales makes you $70
At industry averages you are making $20 in profit.

Try to get as much information from your advertiser as possible.

In regards to monthly versus impressions.... first buy impressions to learn more about the sites traffic, then scale the operation to a monthly impression count.

FYI, 20,000 impressions on each ad is a decent amount, but may not provide enough information as at the average you are only going to see 80 clicks.

I am wishing you luck on this venture ComicSoundz.
Interested in knowing how this goes and see what your conversion rate is like.

Keep us informed please.

Cheers,

Also.

Can publishers lie about impressions and visitors?

Can they just send botted traffic to their site to inflate impressions. If that's the case money will def be wasted.

BuySellAds uses their own pixels to track the impression counts, and they are updated every 30 days. What you see there is closely accurate

That's crazy. Some of these sites look stupid and I can't imagine they get traffic. ESP some that say 800k a month.

It's all about the math. Your right wasted. Ill post those numbers when I get to the office.

Subscribed - I never tried media buying hope all goes well with your test, keep us updated.

Is media buying a good way to get started doing whitehat CPA? Or will PPC be better? I don't have any experience except content locking. I have around $500 in total to spend.

On this product
100 clicks will produce 15 sales
100 clicks will cost me $50
15 sales = $450
$400 profit on a $40 investment.

Now that would be the most ideal situation. I am not expecting to make a dime. This is purely just for the experience.

Really?

15% conversion rates? That is insanely high, if that is the case I could make a six figure media buy out of this.

Maybe I am misunderstanding.

Gravity = Conversion rate?

I guess I didnt understand when wasted said...

Hey,

Sorry for the confusion. I was saying that you have to ask for the conversion rate. Gravity is an indication that people are marketing the product and so the owner of the product should have some metrics on their conversion rate. Does that make sense?

Emailed the product owner. Will post conversion rates as soon as I know.

Yep, just a little misunderstanding:)

Wish you best of luck, though, will enter into media buys soon myself.

Is there a particular reason you chose buysellads.com or you just picked randomly?

Cheers,
shout

I just picked them randomly and their backend looked super easy and user friendly.

I got a account on sitescout but the backend was a little over whelming. Its def not the experienced media buyers.

Interested in seeing the progress of your campaign so I subscribed as well. Do you have a specific ROI in mind or is it just a basic test?
