Hello BHW!

A little about me: I'm 16 y/o and still in high school. I know most of you probably won't care, but I'm just letting you guys know out of my own satisfaction. :) .

Today I will be posting an eBay journey. For those who believe that eBay is dead, don't!. While fees may still take up a large portion of your income, rest assured that eBay is is still profitable. I will not be saying what niche I will be entering because I don't want any unwanted competition.

Goals: I want to go from a slightly new account (13 feedback 100%) to making about $50 a day selling on eBay in the timespan of about a year. I will post all of my transactions I have done on the account thus far, along with any profits, etc. Since I have already started a bit, I will be posting all those details thus far. If you feel like something could be improved, be sure to let me know! I will be completely transparent on what goes on in this eBay journey.

Day 0:

Expenses thus far:
$7.92 buying e books for feedback. $56 on a sample batch of items to sell. $12 on a VPN service. Total: $63.92

Total profit thus far (including eBay fees and Paypal fees): $113

Feedback on account: (13 positive, 100%)

Going in the green baby!

Best of luck mate,

I agree with you, eBay like half
the methods and tools on this
forum are far from your dead all
you need is a brain and a bit of
hard work which it seems like
you have.

Good luck,

Sampler

Thanks! Yup. Many people here seem to lack the hard work. They think it takes a night to get rich quick.

All right. So a few things happened today.

1. I learned that college is waaaaaaaay out of my budget at around $40k a year. Which means I really have to step up my game if I want to go to college.
2. My summer school applications are about $50 dollars each and I have about 3 of them.
3. If I manage to get accepted to a program, the cheapest one is about $850 which sets me back quite a bit.

Day 1:

Expenses: I bought more products to sell off of Aliexpress totaling to: $114. Should be able to make a decent profit on each of these items.

Profits: Someone bought one of my items ($113 + $9.15 = $122.15) $122.15 - $114 = +$8.15

Feedback: (13 positive, 100%)

P.S. I might just update this every 2 days or so since there isn't much to do on a new account yet.

Day 3:

1. Today I sold two 99c ebooks. Made about 2 cents of profit.
2. Hit listing limits, I called in and had them raise them. Now I have 50 items/$5000. Pretty good.
3. One customer did not receive their item, might have to refund about $47.50.

Profit: $+8.17 (might have to go into the negative soon)

Feedback: 14, 100%

My niche is fairly uncompetitive, and it looks very likely that I will hit my goal of $50 a day. :D

Hey, I'm also thinking about getting into the ebay/amazon business. I found a KILLER niche to start selling it's just I always read these post about ebay accounts getting suspended and all. Why would I have to worry about this? Also, if all your doing is selling a product, why do you have to buy a VPN?

Thanks for your time, and good luck on your journey!

no tracking number?

There was a tracking number, however USPS has not updated the # within 24 days so far. I doubt I'm ever seeing it again. I neglected to get insurance since the actual value of the item is pretty low. It is shipping to Canada from the US, so I have no idea what's going on there.

Goodluck to ya kid!

Question:
The products you're purchasing from ALiExpress, you made an $8.15 profit?
What was the $9.15? Shipping?

Well, I decided to start completely from scratch. Of course I have a main account that I use as my buying account on my regular IP. Since my buying account has a 250 item/10k limit, I don't want to risk it by using that to sell. I chose to use a VPN since I have experienced almost every PayPal trick in the book. From 180 day holds to chargebacks from fraudulent eBay members. You don't have to get a VPN, but keep in mind you're only allowed one account per IP. I plan on scaling my business in the near future, so this is just to skip a few steps.

Hey there! And thanks :).

I originally made about $135 in profit off of these items, after fees it was about $115. The reason why I say that my profit decreased is because I used the profit money to reinvest into my business.

Oh and about the $9.15 that was an item sold, so I added it to the profit.

Contact USPS, if you want to be eBay seller need to know how this works. Don't just loose money, try to figure out what happened and get the knowledge.

I totally forgot about that. Thanks! Will do first thing in the morning! :D

Agree, same thing happened to me until the tracking # was finally updated a couple days later. USPS was just being slow

Day 4:

-I called USPS today, and they were unable to track the package since it left the country already. Apparently, post offices outside the US are not obligated to track packages, and they will only update the tracking info once it has been received.
-Other than that, not much to do for today since I hit the category limit for my account already. Working to get that lifted, should be fine by around Monday.

The bottom line is "you are doing it" you will learn "do this" and "don't do that", good for you for jumping in and not just talking :)

That's why it's best not to do international auction sales, it leaves you open to situations where you don't know where the item is, or are left vulnerable to scammer buyers claiming they never got the item and reversing their payment. Ship domestically so you can at least have the tracking proof that the goods were delivered.
