My Automation Journey: From Success to Unexpected Setbacks

For years, I've been captivated by the promise of automation as a pathway to passive income. Like many entrepreneurs in the digital age, I've poured countless hours into various development projects, each one carrying the hope of finally cracking the code to financial freedom. Time and again, these ventures would hit seemingly insurmountable walls, leaving me to pick up the pieces and start anew.

The Game-Changer: My Pokemon Bot Revolution

My latest project, however, was different. It was the most promising venture I'd ever undertaken—a sophisticated Amazon bot specifically designed to target Pokemon products. The strategy was elegantly simple yet brutally effective: identify high-demand Pokemon items, purchase them automatically at retail price, and resell them for 2x to 3x the original cost.

The Pokemon collectibles market is notoriously competitive, flooded with resellers and bot operators all vying for the same limited inventory. But my bot wasn't just another player in this crowded field—it was a precision instrument. What set it apart was its lightning-fast response time and surgical efficiency, particularly when dealing with extremely low stock situations and sudden restocks that would appear and disappear within seconds.

The Sweet Taste of Success

After months of relentless development and optimization, my creation began delivering results that exceeded my wildest expectations. I was consistently acquiring Pokemon products and flipping them for profits that reached up to €2,000 in additional monthly income—all on top of my regular salary. The thrill of watching those profits roll in was intoxicating, and it validated every late night I'd spent hunched over my computer, fine-tuning algorithms and perfecting the bot's performance.

This wasn't the passive income I'd originally envisioned—I was working harder than ever, spending every spare moment after my day job obsessively improving the bot's speed and reliability. But I didn't care. I was passionate about what I was building, and that passion fueled my determination to push the boundaries of what was possible.

The Monetization Strategy

With proven success under my belt, I knew it was time to scale. My vision was to transform this personal money-making machine into a sustainable business model. The plan was to offer subscription access to my bot for €30 per month—a price point that was not only half the cost of competing services but also delivered superior performance.

I began my soft launch by inviting a select group of beta users to test the bot free of charge. The strategy was simple: let them experience the bot's capabilities firsthand, watch their profits soar, and then convert them into paying subscribers who would gladly invest €30 monthly for access to such a powerful tool. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and I could almost taste the recurring revenue that would soon be flowing in.

The Curveball That Changed Everything

But as I'm sharing this story with you, you can probably sense that something went terribly wrong. And you'd be absolutely right.

Amazon, faced with mounting complaints about bot activity targeting high-demand products (including Pokemon items), made a decision that would completely upend my business model overnight. They replaced their traditional First Come, First Serve (FCFS) system with a lottery-based approach, commonly known as a "raffle" system.

Under the old system, speed was everything. The fastest bots with the most sophisticated algorithms would claim the prize. My bot excelled in this environment—it was built for speed, designed to outmaneuver the competition in those crucial milliseconds when inventory became available.

The new lottery system changed the entire game. Instead of rewarding speed and technical prowess, Amazon now requires users to request an invitation to purchase and then randomly selects winners who are permitted to buy just one unit of the desired product. Gone were the days when savvy operators could secure 10-20 units from certain Amazon regions. Now, it was purely a numbers game based on luck rather than skill.

Adaptation Attempts and Hard Realities

I didn't give up without a fight. I quickly adapted my bot to automate the invitation request process and even developed systems for creating multiple accounts to increase the odds in these lotteries. But the results were devastatingly poor—either complete failures or success rates so low they weren't commercially viable.

The frustration is overwhelming. Hundreds of hours of development, a meticulously crafted business plan, a product that performed flawlessly in its intended environment—all rendered obsolete by a single policy change from Amazon. It's the kind of setback that makes you question everything and wonder if you should just give up on entrepreneurial pursuits altogether.

Looking Forward: The Search for Reinvention

But giving up isn't in my DNA. I'm currently in the exploration phase, searching for new opportunities that offer more stability and aren't subject to the whims of platform policy changes. I'm considering pivoting toward supporting services in the automation ecosystem—perhaps proxy services, account generation tools, or other infrastructure that enables the broader botting community.

The key is finding something more resilient, something that doesn't rely on a single platform's goodwill to remain viable.

A Semi-Success Story Worth Sharing

I'm sharing this semi-success story not to discourage anyone, but to provide a realistic glimpse into the entrepreneurial journey. Success isn't always a straight line, and sometimes external forces beyond our control can derail even the most promising ventures.

Despite this setback, I refuse to be defeated. I'm committed to finding a new path forward, and when I do establish something solid and sustainable, I'll be back to update this story with the next chapter. Because that's what entrepreneurs do—we adapt, we persevere, and we never stop pushing forward.

The game isn't over; it's just time for a new strategy. See you soon !
