My Authority Website to $100+ a day!

Hey

6/hrs a day is tough for me. I get too lazy and distracted.

If you're like me and you automatically switch to social media sites or waste your time on other sites, I highly recommend you the browser plugin from simpleology:

Chrome:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/simpleology-browser-add-o/bodmmjnpfmdaffmfjojgbiglpnlbkjea

Firefox:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/simpleology-browser-addon/

With it you can block sites and let the browser remind you of your to-do list.

Also, I highly recommend to check out Mark Joyners site "simpleology.com". It's basically build so people learn to manage their tasks and become more productive. To be honest, it was the most valuable thing I ever signed up for. However, you really need to stick with it for a long time and not give up. It's crazy how much stuff I can finish compared to 1-2 years ago.

Oh, and by the way... don't get into the habit of setting goals that are too high. For example your 6 hours daily. That might sound strange, but it is absolutely VITAL that you set yourself goals that you can reach, in order to feel satisfied and progress. You can always ramp it up slowly, but without keeping up your motivation it will become frustrating after some time.

Thanks for the advice, and thanks for enlightening me about Tumblr. Keep talking!! Every information is useful!

You're welcome! Tumblr can be a great source of traffic if the niche fits. Especially because you don't need much of an investment to get started.

Oh yeah, I will update my OP as my journey progresses because I'm a complete noob and I'm still finding out information as I go. There will be some link building. Also, I was under the influence that if you have an established authority website, ranking will be a lot easier. Thank you for the advice though!

Well, reaching the status "authority" takes a looong time and without links, no authority. :D

For SEO in general, I recommend you these threads/guides:

James Vick enlightens about link building. Seriously, one of the most valuable threads for SEO, I learned a lot from it:

On-page SEO from Moz:

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks guys!

Thanks for the info. I actually haven't ran across James Vick's thread, I will definitely check it out when I start doing link building. I read PHPBuilt thread which talks about authority site building which is perfect info for me.

A quick update

Time spent yesterday:
I spent a solid 3 hours! I found more keywords but not enough to move on to the next step.

Why it is taking me so long

  • Finding good keywords takes time for me
  • I get side tracked easily.
  • Once I research my niche and find out something new, I try to find out more information about it, and end up feeling lost and not knowing how to organize the information. I have a hard time deciding which information will be good on my website.

My goal is to finish by this week and put more time into it.

A little update

I finally finished finding my keywords, only got around 15 but I'm stuck so I'll just move on for now.

Whats next:
I will be finding a nice wordpress theme and designing it.

Is there any wordpress themes that you guys recommend? Any examples of how an authority site should look like and how it should be structured? Is "thevergeDOTcom" a good example?

Axioms, you stated...

A little update:

What I learned:
I read a little on what an authority website is. Here are my thoughts and why I picked this as my journey. Authority website has the potential of having a long term and consisting source of income. I will never have to worry about any Google updates

If you depending on organic traffic from g00gle, you will always have to be cognizant of algorithm changes even with an Authority website. The KEY to avoiding and prospering when these changes happen, [and they are going to happen] is staying ahead of the curve.

Meaning, diversify your Backlink Architecture. Include BLs with high DA, PA and high PR. But also include BLs with low DA, PA and low or no PR. Also, do not neglect social signals. Contrary to popular belief, social signals help stabilize rankings.

As you move along in your journey, INVEST in your IM business or you WILL FAIL!

You cannot compete with the BIG DAWGS when you are fighting with this:

And your COMPETITION is fighting with this!

If you want to win in this BUSINESS, be prepared to make the same sacrifices one would make in any brick and mortar business, IF they want to succeed BAD ENOUGH!

Hope that helps!

LOL crewchief007. It was a good read and the pics gives it a nice touch. Hoping I'll be a big dawg one day. Thanks for the advice!

Wow its been over a month since I updated my journey. Last month, I went on a little vacation and was reading up a lot about creating a website. I got really lost and gave up for awhile. Now I am back with organized thoughts. I will try not to overthink anything.

What I've done:

  • Bought a domain and host
  • Selected a wordpress theme
  • Found 20+ keywords

What I have planned in terms of getting ready to launch my website:

  • Write articles
  • Design my website
  • Create social media accounts

I think this is what I need to have a basic authority website. I am at the stage of writing articles and it may take awhile because I would like all my articles to be high quality.

I'd recommend to get alot of decent content on your website from what i've read as i'm still a newbie sites that have a lot of pages with content seem to rank better especially now with the slower ranking introduced with the 15 may update.
