Hey, I always wonder how big brand's name like moz, ahrefs are in no way related to their niche. In fact, these are not even words. These are words made by the people behind those successful companies and these words don't have any meaning. These words have literally no meaning on their own.

How do you think these people get these ideas about such 3-5 letter words and built a big brand?

Amazon is okay as it means the longest river or lake? I think Bezos had this idea that his brand will have a long list of every product in the world and thus he gave the name of Amazon.

Ahref comes from the HTML tag of the same name. https://html.com/attributes/a-href/

The Amazon rainforest? They're trying to say it's vast, I presume.

Maybe this is what Moz means?

Yes, rainforest. I forgot and confused it with river or lake haha.

Still he synced the VAST rainforest name with his brand. He made a brand out of it.

Ahrefs is an all in one SEO tool right? So, how is html related with it?
How is MOZ is in anyway to related to what it is and what it does? :p

Amazon, because it was a book store and books are made from trees.
Ahrefs because its a back link tag.
Moz came from Mozilla which came from Mosaic one of the first browsers.

All are related.

I see, thanks for clearing.

If you only took a look at the link @Zwielicht posted.. If you create a link in html you use the code <a href="linkhere">

Since Ahrefs is a tool mostly for linkbuilding you see the relation between the tool and the name? ;)

For Amazon it's because of the river Amazon, which is the largest by volume. And also it's called Amazon, because they offer everything from A to Z (That's why they have this arrow in their logo).

I saw recently Jeff said that Amazon was named Amazon because when it was first started search engines weren't popular so had to rely on Directories which we usually alphabetical and chose a word begining with A, he went for Amazon to demonstrate vastness. But I read in the past about a negative impact because people associated Amazon with destorying rainforest for business.
