It allows sharing files but the size of such files is ridiculous
With GitHub LFS you could reach bigger sizes but the download speed is extremely slow
And like most cloud storage services as soon as they spot a DMCA violation they are going to remove everything. They are even controlling the parasites that are being constantly created both as repos and issues
For all these reasons, from all the storage services GitHub is probably the last I would use for this purpose
