My friend and I got an idea for a humorous comic/animation, and I can say it is hilarious as hell, at least in our opinion.

I live in a small, non-English-speaking country. The good thing is that our comics here are crap. I can't understand why they are so popular. Maybe because they are the only ones we have. Here, it is easy to succeed by being just a little bit better. So, there's no question that our comic will become popular.

I'm not motivated to draw it myself, so I hired a guy from Indonesia to make a 3-panel strip for $13. That's pennies in our country. I don't see it as an impossible task to sell it to newspapers for $10—just two sales and you're in profit. I also found a cheap animation maker, and that's the thing I really want to invest in since comics are nowadays a very unprofitable way to make money.

The main focus is on creating the comic in my language first, but it's possible to translate it into any language, so the whole world is our playground. However, in English, there is very high competition, so I won't count on that.

But anyway, if you have ideas on how to monetize self-produced comics/animations, I'm all ears. Cheers.

you're starting locally, you have a strong chance of building a dedicated audience. Aside from selling to newspapers, have you considered social media monetization, Patreon, or even Webtoon for additional revenue streams? Animated content could also do well on YouTube and TikTok. Wishing you success with it
