from what i understand the mobile marketing thing is jumping off because of the open rates being 80%+ compared to 37%? I don't know but just about every internet marketer i know is jumping on it, some mobile monopoly thing, and some other one. I think the key will be where people approach offline businesses with their pitch, they'll make money by making a "cellphone / mobile" ready website for offline / or newly online businesses that's where the $ will come in. the rest i guess will come from the 'gurus' pitching it as the next best affiliate product out there to push.

I must say that I am pretty interested in mobile marketing. I was actually wondering if there was such a forum for people who have actually got into mobile marketing, I haven't taken the plunge yet but would love to read up a little before I do.

I'd love a place to discuss mobile marketing, since I currently have an engine that allows business owners to sign-up and create their own list via SMS. I am also trying to grow affiliate sales so this type of place is another place I'd really like to join. Hope it happens soon...

We are opening a small but very articulate discussion place on mobile marketing which will cover everything from mobile advertising, direct marketing, list building, bulk marketing and more.
Just out of interest and i'm only really talking to people here who are very interested and have dealt with mobile marketing and know what is involved, cost wise and what not who would be interested.
Let's call it "shooting alot of shit" with alot of high end services with big roi
If your a mailer and havnt looked at sms then think again!
Anyway. im not selling anything or promoting anything, i just want a show of hands who'd be very keen to jump into such a place

I'm sure there is room for mobile marketing and a great opportunity exists with incredible potential.

If you approach it like a real business, you can do well. For example, if a brick-and-mortar wants to increase their repeat customers, they can create a flyer or just tell their existing customers about their mobile promotion. The customer signs up right from the cell phone and the business owner is in the process of building their customer list.
Now they can send promotion to the list and entice the customer to come back, say , on a slow night (like Tuesday nights for restaurants), by offering a special only good for that evening. Also, they can time the message to go out in the late afternoon to get, when the customer is thinking about what to do for dinner.
This is just one example...
