Logged back in my account after almost 7 years. The days of fake accounts I thought were behind me.
After many years I ended up becoming a doctor. A part of me wants to venture out into a business of selling doctor notes. There are so many websites that are selling "fake" doctor notes.
But as a physician, I feel that if I hear the history of a patient (aka have them fill a form), I can write a legit doctors note at a premium cost.
My concerns:
1) I'm wondering if writing a doctors note legally put me in a doctor patient relationship. In my mind, if I write it on the website that "this is not medical advice and please see a physician in person if you seek a medical consultation", then it's not a doctor patient relationship. Plus obviously I will not be giving a medical opinion.
2) Writing a doctors note across state lines - If I'm licensed in States A and B, I'm concerned if I'm jeopardizing the wrath of the medical boards of all the other states if they deem it as medical practice to write a doctors note, especially to people from other states where I'm not licensed to practice.
My Options:
1) Maintain maximum anonymity - not register domain, hosting, or anything under my name. The problem will become accepting paypal payments (accept under family member's paypal?).
2) Just go with it 100% legally with full disclosure of who I am, because the medical boards shouldn't have an issue with a doctor stating "I reviewed the history of *insert name* and have deemed that this person was not well. He/she may return to work on *insert date*". Plus on the website, it will be clearly stated that I can decide to refund the money and not write a work note (like I would in my office). In my mind, this is the equivalent of going to a notary who attests that you were the real person signing. Just like that, my work note is just an attestation that person X stated they felt sick (and I'll be diligent to not even say I saw this person, just that I reviewed their history).
Thoughts? What's the best way forward? A part of me is terrified of having worked so hard and gotten to a a high 6 figure income and then get in trouble with a medical board.
