No doubt WordPress is arguably the best for blogging and affiliate marketing but you need to justify your migration.
Why do you think you should migrate to WP?
Drupal 7 is at the end of its life. I tested Drupal 10: it's outrageous for a simple blog monetized with AdSense. As for Backdrop CMS, it's great BUT there's a huge lack of extensions and fancy themes.
So, I thought migrating to Wordpress, which offers a lot of ready-to-use themes and extensions, would be a good option.

I'm almost at the end, in fact. As this is a travel site, I'm waiting for the end of the tourist season to make the switch. I get less traffic at that time.

Use light weight plugins
Lightning fast theme
I used relatively few extensions:
22 in all.
For the theme, I made a child theme based on ColorMag.
Title tag, meta description etc. You may want to use a good SEO plugin depending on your choice.
I installed RankMath for the SEO part. I completed the meta descriptions for all categories. I use UberSuggest for SEO and had planned to have it crawl the whole site once it went live (I've used up my project quota).
I did a GoogleSpeed Test last night and a GMetrix test. It's going pretty well. Both tools just yelled at me for the images I could lighten.
sometimes, when you change themes (even moreso CMS I'd assume) you will still lose rankings temporarily, so expect this to happen! It might not happen, but if it does, don't freak out as the rankings usually come back within a week or two...
Okay, it's nice of you to let me know. I'm expecting a slight drop-off anyway, especially as I run a tourism site, it's the end of the season and, if the statistics for the last two years are anything to go by, I'm entering a slightly quieter period.
yeah, the structure of the URL is one of the most important things to pay attention to when migrating / changing themes. Also make sure that there are no broken links and 404 pages anywhere... and no noindex tags on the pages you wish to rank, either...
Normally, most content has the same URLs, but I'm planning (today if I'm brave) to pull up the sitemap of the current version and that of the next version and compare to see what URLs might be different.
I'm not expert on this as I've never switched CMS before, so if there are other tips hopefully someone will jump in and provide them, but as long as you have backups of the important stuff (htaccess, robots.txt, the "wp-content" folder and the DB) and as long as you've managed to 301 the obsolete / edited URLs prior to google crawling your new site there shouldn't be any losses.
I've migrated before, but it was from Drupal 6 to Drupal 7. This is my first time to WordPress.
By any chance, do I have anything specific to do on the Google AdSense side? Apart from installing the extensions, do I need to notify Google of the migration?
(I know: it's a dumb question, but then again, this is the first time I've migrated a site monetized with AdSense).
