So I'm migrating one of my WordPress blogs to a new hosting, the hosting company says it will be $37.50 to complete it. Is it worth it or this could easily be done by me without paying this?

I'm beyond Cpanel level actually, I was just wondering if I should pay them to do this for me or just do it myself. Not sure how long it would take me, thanks for that info. Think I'll do it myself

If you don't know how to do it properly, and you afford the required amount, I suggest you to use their migration service. It's the easy way.
Btw, I know that the majority of the hosting companies offer free migrations for their clients. Why would it be different here?

Yes, if you don't do it properly. Make sure you ask them if they only transfer the site, or if they also handle the SEO part of the migration process.

It's actually a popular hosting, I was surprised they don't do it for free.

If I'm migrating sites across hosts, I use the all in one migration wp plugin, however the free version only works on sites up to 256MB(can handle a small to mini medium site), but I think someone shared here the full version.

backup the database, the directory and transfer everything via FTP, it's very simple (I don't use plugins, it always generated errors). if you transfer quickly google will know the migration quickly, in a few days your SEO is back to normal, but drops are normal in a migration

Absolutely I agree. This is the simplest way. Don't ignore this comment and don't pay them for such a simple thing.

It doesn't really matter how long it takes you to move everything to the new server as long as you change the nameservers after the new server is set up.
Never had any delays with servers or drops in rankings because of migration and I do it manually as you advised.

Wp migration is actually not that complicated and you can test with dummy sites first if you are not sure.
It will surely save you money and any future problem.
With what @Panther28 do you have access to cpanel and php my admin on both the hosts?

I just haven't done it before but after reading a few blog posts, I realize it's actually easier than I initially thought. I am thinking of backing up the database use FTP to move the directories.

I use Duplicator to migrate sites
Although you can do this manually I feel that Duplicator takes care of many things like domain changes (which is not your case)
But if it's just the hosting, you can do it manually super-easy: dump your database, create a compressed file with all the files. And do the same in the new server. Not couting the transfer times, you can do this in 15 minutes. Without practice, maybe 1 hour to get you informed, but is good info to know for the future
If your time is much more expensive than $40 for 1 hour then just tell them to do it for you.

Many hosting providers offer migration services for free. I believe it's a great marketing practice to offer it for free since they are gaining a new customer + coming from a competitor.
I don´t know what a hosting provider is or if you would be better with another hosting that offers migration for free.
My best choice would be WPX Hosting.

I haven´t migrated an entire site before but right off the bat I feel $40 for migrating a site it´s very pricy.
Especially since most tutorials on YouTube show this to be a very straightforward process that can be done in less than 1h.

Can be easily done without it.
Most host does it for you for free to, kinda weird they are charging you over it.

I have to migrate two websites this month (from NameCheap to Bluehost) and since both companies have Softaculous, I'm looking how to do the migration with these tools. I suppose it's a matter of creating a backup file and then importing the file to the new host. Then I'll have to change the DNS settings.

It is better to pay them this money. If you do not want to pay this, choose a hosting that is ready to do the transfer for free.
