Migrating from Blogger to Wordpress

I'm starting up a new blogging project using Wordpress.org but have a number of posts on my old blog that used Blogger that I would like to transfer over.

The majority of the old posts are not worth it but is it worth migrating the entire blog over and then killing what I don't want? I'm assuming there must be a better method.

I'm not aware of any migration system that lets you select posts instead of migrating all of them, so if you just need a few you might be best off with a manual copy paste transfer.
 
Im courious about this too. If there is a better way to migration, that would be great, instead copy paste it manualy
 
If you're migrating everything you can export the xml from blogger and import it into wordpress (though you'll probably have to move your images separately.) Blogger doesn't seem to have any way to export selectively, so you get to choose between export all->import all->delete some, or copy->paste. Blogger is just a somewhat limited platform, if you were exporting from wordpress you would be able to select what posts to move.

I though xml file is just for template. Are you sure it can move all posts as well?

The XML file does move the posts as well, and I completely agree with jackalope about Blogger being a limited platform. I debated back and forth before putting the original blog project on there and eventually went with Blogger for its ease. Regret it now.

I started out on squarespace, made hundreds of posts full of pictures, and eventually realized the horrible mistake I had made. It took a lot of work, but I've never regretted leaving them for wordpress for a moment. I now keep everything separate - buy my domain names from one company, hosting from another, and use wordpress because it's an open source CMS that's not entangled with my hosting company. That way I can always move anything when a service inevitably starts having some sort of issue.

I think that's the best policy. Out of curiously, who do you buy your domain names and hosting from?

I use hover.com for domain names, and at the moment my favorite hosting is from monstermegs.com, they've been my most reliable in a while now. As I've said elsewhere on here, every time I consider a new webhost I look up the current list of EIG companies and make sure they don't own the hosting company I'm considering.
 
Same issue I have faced a few years back.

Please download the database from blogger dashboard and use a plugin in WordPress to migrate those old files.

Though there are cons out there. The major one is that sometimes images are tough to be transferred.
