would that mean if i rank no.1 on that KW only the 'exact' number will see it or will it show up in other searches as well.
also my niche is very small as its a business and i want to target only local people, i have got 12 KW but they only have 30 exact searches each per month. do you think it makes sense to do seo on it and buy backlinks.
Exact shows you the amount of people that will type in your "exact keyword" where are broad and phrase shows people that might type parts of your keyword or your exact keyword with other parts in it.
I.e you want to rank for "gold ring"
exact = gold ring
broad = where can I buy a ring that is made of gold
phrase = buy gold ring for men
Now if you are ranking number 1 for the exact match keyword "gold ring" and it gets 10K searches then all of the people that type that keyword will see your site (maybe not visit it but they will see it), where as people that might type in the keyword in "broad" or "phrase" then they might not see your site ranking.
Thats why I say, Always look at exact match for traffic, if you get some of the broad traffic then so bit, that will be a bonus but do not expect to get the broad/phrase traffic.
You can choose to go after those 30 exact searches keyword if they are "buying keywords" and you think you can make a sale from getting 20 visitors that use those keywords.
Personally I would not bother unless the keyword we are talking about is like "buy rolex model type" or something along those lines that is VERY targeted and probably will lead to a sale.
Its all up to you buddy.
