(Method) Playing lottery everyday til jackpot

I've been thinking about this for so long and so many times now. What if I play the lottery everyday for the whole year. We have lottery here in canada that costs $1, $3 and $5 per play. Lets say play $1 for the entire year costs $365 and jackpot is only $1 million. $3 for the whole year costs $1095 and jackpot goes upto $60 Million. and the last $5 play for the whole year costs $1825. I can guarantee you that i spend more money on gas than all of the above. Is there a slight chance of success on this method. Thats more than 1000% ROI though if somehow God gives you lemons.

Err, no. That $1,000+ a year would be far better spent elsewhere. Contribute to a robo investor and you'll have a good few thousand extra to play with after a few years. After 5 years at $5 a day you'll have $11,000, at 10 years you'll have $27,000, after 20 years you'll have $89,000. Of course, this all depends on return on investment and may be more or less.
 
Better focus on being productive. The "hopefully I win the lottery" mindset won't get you far.

i have extra money that i make while im sleeping. $1k year is not bad for atleast $1 million ROI.

In my opinion, that's the wrong way to look at it. You are far more likely to die on the way to buying your lottery ticket than you are winning it. The lottery is simply gambling, which is fine if you're approaching it from the angle that you enjoy gambling. But, if you're playing because you want to make money, then the lottery is not the right choice.
 
Seems like someone wasn't paying attention at math classes. National lotteries always state chances of winning on their websites and if you delve into it, you'll see that ROI will be always negative.

Um, with the lottery winnings, of course.
 
My grandfather played lottery nearly daily for 31 years before he died. Biggest prize he ever won was like 1.5K, he spent like 0,50-0.75 ct daily. Waste of money imho.
 
A simple 6/42 Lottery has 5,245,786 possible winning combinations.
So the chance of winning, playing $1 or even $5 a day, are very slim.
But it is possible :)
 
the lottery is luck of the draw man. let me tell you, that im a big gambler. and i live in canada too. i've spent up to $200 at one time just buying scratchers. i bought 200 $1 scratch tickets. my profits on those were tiny. i received around 30-40% back on whatever tickets i bought. i usually buy in bulk too. the most amount of money i won was $1700 at a casino online playing slots. the most i won from a combo ticket was $250 on lotto max. (combo tickets cost $200, and i bought 2 of them, only to receive half it back.)

right now my chances are probably better if i play games of skill. i have so much free time. i can spend it to learn sports. i spent my my time learning NBA in june. and learning which members of the NBA where good players. and i ended up betting 10$ on fanduel, but i didnt count on a player who was injured previously before to actually do extremely better than he normally does. so i didnt pick him. i was 20 fanduel points away from winning $250k. but i lost. my line up was really good, just not good enough. but sadly just like the lottery. its all luck of the draw man...

learn my my mistakes and experiences.
 
You need to revise high school math. If I had to pay $1000 per year for 1% chance to make 60 million I would highly hesitate. You are looking at odds many many (MANY) orders of magnitude smaller. And on top of that lotteries are probably scams, there was an event in my country several years ago, where the nation-sponsored biggest lottery proved itself to be rigged on live television, as someone in staff made an accident. Yet, with people being so insanely obsessed with lotteries, their reputation didn't sink completely, they're still going strong.

I completely understand this may be a joke thread, but this reply goes to anyone who contemplates any kind of game-of-chance gambling in their lives.
 
That is not a method.
It is gambling.

The odds of winning are 1 to millions and millions.
Unless you won't play millions of tickets, I wouldn't call this method. And if you would I would call it negative profit.

If OP wants to spend the money and do a journey, let him do it. It's his money to spend.

It gets better : NONE ever pay what's advertised (for one thing, they advertise the pre-tax winnings, which is generally double or more of what oyu actually get ; for the other thing, they advertise a lump sum, whereas only some very limited annuity is actually ever available) and moreover, plenty do not pay at all. Illinois for instance is notorious for this, pretty much every time there's a big winner they go soft-bankrupt and simply do not pay. There's more stiffed winners than paid winners in that state over the past half century.
