I use 8 different rss urls from imgur. You will have to see if IFTTT has a recipe for the site you want to use.
Try different variations of your niche. If you're doing games then search for games, pcgames, xboxgames etc..
Then you have done something wrong. The guide is step by step, not sure where you could have messed up. Your page should look like the image I posted

I guess I am doing something wrong. I found an imgur page like imgur.com/a/ccc/ and I add rss to the end of the URL.
But the feed URL gives an error "Not a valid feed url, missing feed title"

What exactly do you doubt? Everyone will have different results depending on your niche.
Is pretty common knowledge that people on tumblr love to follow blogs that get lots of reblogs/favorites. 50-100 followers daily is nothing once you really get going.
