I know your post is old, but yes it works. I have found though that Imgur gets updated rather slow and their RSS is glitchy. Instead I use the subreddit's RSS feed for the corresponding name since they usually just link to IMGUR anyways.

As with anything you read online, there are caveats. Can anyone just set this up and expect to get that? No. Niche depending, content depending, knowing your niche and you can very much get that
