[Method] Banking Over $4,000/month - Sneaky 7 Step Offline Method

Just joined here, although I've been doing affiliate IM for a while with mixed results.

I'm just now getting into local SEO and I like this method. However, I live in a smaller town, where local search volumes do not seem to warrant marketing to local business. So I'm wondering if an initial contact via email, followed up by a phone call would get results. I'm going to try it but I was just wondering anyone's opinion.

ImMagster

In such cases when the volume is quite low, it's better to not speak about the search volume at all. Present the deal in a general manner stressing that more and more services & products are being sold online. In that sense, the way you approach prospects will change but it is still doable.

A phone call to ask for permission to send the email and then a follow up email is the next best thing to personally visiting businesses (imho) so that's definitely a good way forward in your case.

boomer,
Why haven't you sold them on a yearly maintenance contract? Charge them $50/mo or whatever a good number is, to keep their ranking up there. Explain the need for continued maintenance because Big G changes their algo all the freaking time and you have to do periodic work to their website to keep up with the changes or else their website will drop down in the serps.

With the current deal, I just have to rank the site now and not have to worry about pandas, penguins or zebras.

The best part about this method is that it pays quite well compared to the effort you put in. On the other hand, the returns on a monthly/yearly contract won't be quite as much.

Moreover, I view this method purely as a hook to be able to sell other kinds of services which are recurring in nature (like hosting, autoresponders, etc.). These services are just as rewarding as they don't take up too many man hours.

Hi BoomBoomer-

1st things first......I'm a noob to SEO

That about answers any stupid questions I might have......

This seems to be a really cool technique to jumpstart a local SEO bus.

Question.......Under step 4..Identify prospects..number 1...has a minimum domain age of 4 years. How do you find this out? I installed SEOQuake(free) toolbar. It has as you know many tabs. One of the tabs is age. Is that the one where it should show how old their site is?
The reason I ask is because I'm looking at (city)..dwi attorneys. There are alot of results for that term. I see some sites have 2..4..0...page rank listed, but NOT a single one shows age. They all say N/A.

Can you help me here?

Thanks Boom

If the SEO Quake tooldbar shows you N/A, you can get the registration date of the domain name (and hence its age) from its whois listing which can be found on the websites of domain registrars (godaddy, etc) or on a whois website (like whois.net). For example, to check the registration date of google.com, you can visit http://whois.net/whois/google.com which has this information.

Yes...I should have been more clear.. What I wanted to know was do you know how to show the age of the domain when using SEOquake? I looked at it and it does not look like something that you turn on or off, it just doesn't show any data on age for any site even ones that you know are old like Geico, etc. It would be nice to have that feature because then you can quickly eyeball it and know how old it is. That would be a huge timesaver.

This is usually caused by sending too many requests too fast. When I encounter this problem, I stop requesting details (pr,age, etc) for all sites on the page at once and instead click the age link on each site separately.

Hey boomboomer. As many others have already stated, I'm still a little new at this ball game. I have read many methods for this "genre" of local SEO, with only two influencing me enough to take a little action...this being number 2.

Why don't you charge large clients, lawyers for example, a monthly recurring fee? Sure, like you said, its much less work to simply rank an aged domain than it is to maintain it.. especially through googles stampede of critters... But if you build the links the right way, will they really even have a great impact on ranking? Being the newcomer, I dont the answer to that as much as you might.. but my question is, with your experience, will these clients be willing to sign up for a monthly fee if you promise them you can keep there listing on the first page? Or have you simply found it more worth while to stick with a one (or two) time fee where you dont have to give two fucks about the site once its ranked? It just seems like while many potential clients would say no, many would say yes and you could be stacking a solid monthly income from maintaining a handful of sites compared to having to do the whole process over and over.

Anyhow, this has been one the most useful threads I'v come across. So mazel tov to you my friend.

First off, I'd like to say that it's great to know that you're taking action!

You are right in thinking that a lot of people would be willing to pay a monthly fee for a service that keeps them ranked in Google. However, I personally don't offer that kind of service for a few reasons that I'll outline here:

(Note that most of these reasons stem from the fact that I'm using this service purely as a hook to get new clients.)

1. Link building (particularly automated link building) is becoming less and less effective as search engines continue to evolve. That's not to say that link building is useless - its just that more effort is required to achieve the same kind of rankings/results as before.

2. Most of these people are willing to pay the same (even more) amount for other services like hosting, autoresponder management, etc. which don't take up even a fraction of the effort that link building does.

3. The most important reason why I don't offer a monthly/annual service of this kind is to protect my reputation. Currently, all my clients know exactly what they are getting into. I make it clear from the onset that rankings in Google, while achievable to some extent, aren't forever. These can change the very next week or stay the same - there's no guarantee. This means that once I get their websites ranked on the first page, they understand that I have delivered on my promise (for this service) and they don't expect anything more.

On the other hand, if I were to provide this service on an ongoing basis, even a single website dropping in rankings (for any reason) could open me & my firm up for negative publicity. All you really need is one client who feels shortchanged for your reputation to be shredded to pieces.

Hope this answers your question.

Do you think that this method will success if i Send Emails to website owners instead of Calling Them directly

Even if you send them emails, it'll be a lot better if you precede and follow up that email with phone calls. To be honest, I haven't had great results when I have just sent emails.

You could try sending a physical letter instead of an email if you absolutely don't want to call up. But I would still recommend calling up because it shows them that you are for real.

I can imagine the success in this joint is pivotal on your ability to sell things in an extroverted fashion but I will give it a shot ! thanks.

Thanks for this method but what normaly happens in my city is , if you search for "kw+city name" I have google places that shows top of results. Therefore your method will not be useful to beat google places as its is more complicated.
I asume your method is only doable with results without GP which are very rare for local searches.
Thanks !

Do you use any particular Fiverr gigs for the press releases or do you do those yourself?

I've never really ventured into PR's and it's something I'm slowly starting to get into.

Yes I agree with you it is the oldest (old fashioned) but I believe it is still effective and very easy to follow. It's the virtue of patience that we should possess if we want to be successful in life.

So what do you do when your SB blasts fuck up the SEO and rankings disappear?

Great method dude, very noob friendly too! I think if I started out in IM again I'd go down this road.

Just gave you +8 rep :)

Most of these search result pages have Google places results above the organic ones. I don't try to beat these results but try to put websites on the same page as these results. While selling, I make it a point to stress on the fact that I'll get the websites to the first page. Never do I promise a 'top 3' or 'top 5' kinda deal.

As I've mentioned quite often in this thread, this is just a way to acquire clients for me. This allows me to show businesses that I can deliver on my promises which results in more high valued business in the future.

So what happens if you get them on page 1, and they dont pay you? Do you get a signed agreement before you start the work?

I always start work only after getting paid. I offer clients a money back guarantee so they don't really hesitate in paying. For clients who are somewhat skeptical, I also accept post dated checks.
