Hi everyone,
A new update related to interest targeting in Meta Ads has started appearing in some ad accounts, and it introduces a slightly different approach inside the Detailed Targeting section.
Until now, most advertisers followed the same process when setting up campaigns. We would go to the interest search box and manually type keywords one by one. For example targeting people who like certain brands, use specific devices, or have particular hobbies. Many of us spent a lot of time building long combinations of interests this way.
With this new feature, instead of searching for interests one by one, you can now describe your target audience in a text format (up to around 2000 characters).
Meta’s system then analyzes this description and automatically generates the relevant targeting signals and interest combinations for you.
For example, you could write something like:
Women aged 30-40 living in Istanbul who are interested in organic skincare products and tend to purchase luxury beauty items.
Meta’s AI will analyze that description and try to build the appropriate interest clusters and signals automatically.
To me the message behind this change is pretty clear. Meta seems to be slowly moving away from the traditional manual interest-digging approach. Instead, they want advertisers to describe their ideal audience, while the algorithm handles the matching and targeting combinations in the background.
For people who often get lost between hundreds of interests in the panel, this could potentially save a lot of time.
The feature appears to be in testing, so it may not be visible in every ad account yet. But it definitely looks like another step toward AI-driven targeting inside Meta Ads.
Curious if anyone here has already seen this in their ad manager.
