Please answer the last post which I addressed to you...

The ONLY way they can adjust is to MODERATE the content BEFORE it's upload, which is impossible, 48 hours of video is uploaded every 1 minute on youtube. Same for Google, blogspot, Facebook and most big websites, including most porn websites.

Please do tell me how they can moderate the material BEFORE it is uploaded when so much is constantly being uploaded. They simply cannot it, it would handicap them far too much and the internet would lose most of the freedom it has.

Read the rest of the thread. When someone calls me a liar, I would say that is an attack on me.... personally. So all I ask, if you are going to attack me and call me a liar... then come do it to my face... in person.

I am not attacking anyone. This thread is about megaupload being taken down because of copyright infringement. Everything I have written is in general terms.

People are upset and want to lash out at me because I am stating that the feds did nothing wrong with taking down megaupload. If you read the indictment, it is clear megaupload was careless in discussing their pirating activities.

The only thing you can argue is that megaupload only got taken down because of the E-mails he was sending and because of him not following DMCA notices...sure I will even go as far and agree with you there.

However if a bill like SOPA passes then they will not even need to follow the DMCA process, they would simply be able to shutdown websites before even filing a DMCA notice. So yes, with bills like NO-IP and SOPA it would destroy the internet and quite a hefty amount of websites.

Please let me know how they can adjust when as I already said, the only way is to moderate BEFORE the content is uploaded and when 48 hours of content is uploaded to youtube every minute, heh, yeah, good luck.

People say that it is impossible to moderate. I say it is not.

I will give you an example.

How is it that a video with the TOP bill board song can be attached to a dancing cat and youtube not spot it.... even when it goes viral.....

but

the minute you upload some video that has to do with affiliate marketing, it gets deleted real quick.

How can they moderate videos with affiliate stuff on them, that get uploaded with the 48 hours of video per minute.... and not spot copyrighted music until you send them a notice.

It is because they make money of the music video... but not off your affiliate video.


Youtube makes billions a year.... they can help the world economy and hire more people to help with the moderation.... people from 3rd world countries if they have to.

But they are pirates themselves.... they do not want to remove all those videos with the copyrighted songs.... because like megaupload.... that pirated content makes them mega money..

Why wouldn't they make money off my affiliate video? They add their ads to every video. The reason the affiliate video gets pulled off because somebody flagged it as useless garbage.

If you were not licensed, then if you shoplifted, copied it, cloned it, replicated it, duplicated it, counterfeited it, etc then it is called copyright infringement.

Not only can you have auto deletion,but it doesn't take 1:1 to realize something is a copyrighted item. It could take as low as 2700(900 per 8 hour shift) workers to moderate a site like Youtube. In the U.S. that would be a minimum of about $55 million per year to keep Youtube "free and open". And if you chose a country like Moldova to get workers from you could pay 6x the minimum wage each month and it would only cost about $6.5 million to have Youtube moderated

You are missing the point.

The importance is that they if they can monitor the videos that have affiliate stuff,
then they can monitor for copyrighted info, but they don't.

How would you know if a random video is originally licensed under Creative Commons or a more restrictive license?

There are tons of technology to spot and delete copyright content.

youtube makes a conscious decision not to do it....
It would hurt their bottom line.
they walk on the edge of the law.
They do the minimum to stay within the law and profit from the illegal content.

Don't get me wrong. I do not blame them.
They are within the law...and that is all the law requires.

If youtube could really not clean the site up, they would of filed some type of injunction to stop the bill.... and showing that it is impossible to clean all the pirated content up.

They do not do it... because they know that the software exists that can do that already.

Well in that case each video taken down,could actually be put in a 3 day "holding" period where you can submit proof that it was under creative commons and not something unauthorized.

I think that the approach would be different.



For example... if they new that pididdy only licensed his songs on his channel... then every occurrence of his music would be deleted.

The software that these "workers" will be using has proprietory detecting methods.

do not judge us by our lack of knowledge how this software works.
We did not design it nor do we sell it.

Do a google search and you will find it.

The most logical way to use this is to delete videos that for sure have copyright material in them.... when in doubt.... leave the video.

Did you ever used any copyrighted content such as listening musics, watching movies ,using softwares , playing games. I am asking before you started working at production company before you were making money.

You mean digital video fingerprinting? Youtube has used it since 2007 to delete infringing content!

Sigh...how did I know that either you or Virus1 would respond with such a comment whereby you pull a figure out of your ass and use your own personal guesses as facts.

48 hours of video footage is uploaded to youtube PER MINUTE, that is a matter of fact, want to know how much that is PER DAY?
Here is the math for you -
48 hours * 60 = 1 hour = 2880 hours
2880 hours = 120 days.
So for each HOUR there is 120 days worth of footage being uploaded.
That means every :
24 hours = 2880 days.
So for each day of youtube...2880 days worth of footage is uploaded.

You think that 2700 workers (900 doing 8 hour shifts) will even come close to covering the 2880 days of footage being uploaded per day? If we even assume it takes them 30 seconds per video, to figure out if it contains copyright or not that is still no where near enough workers.

Also Virus1 saying that they have the technology to detect and remove the videos, are you kidding me? Of course they do and they ARE ALREADY USING IT, if you ever upload a video that contains copyrighted material you automatically get a notice from youtube and if the content provider does not block it worldwide / in countries then they allow you to use it without any penalties (the content provider...NOT YOUTUBE)..Then youtube also include a link of the song in your description to itunes to buy the song + name of the artist and song.

So yeah Virus1 they are already using the technology, now if you're claiming they have more advanced technology but are simply not using it, then where the fuck is your proof? You have none, as per usual you spout your opinions as facts...
