I saw this a few minutes ago... very interesting. Considering it's a Hong Kong based company.
 
But the Motion Picture Association of America, which has campaigned for a crackdown on piracy, estimated that the vast majority of content being shared on Megaupload was in violation of copyright laws.

Bah, and this is before SOPA. They shoulda hosted their shit in like the Cayman Islands or such, where the real blackhatters (most US corporations) have their headquarters.

I do hope this isn't the start of mass censoring... before we know it all the major sites will be censored. Let's pray that this doesn't happen.

this won't stand because MEGAUPLOAD is backed by artists and 90% of their content is legit.this is bullshit.

See this is why SOPA is garbage. In it there is supposedly a distinction between "domestic" and "foreign" domains, except there are a number of international/foreign companies which .com websites. Seeing also as how Google gives preferential treatment to COMs, classifying them as US only domains is unfair to other countries' websites as well.

I'm surprised MegaUpload had a server inside the US considering their business model...not a smart move IMO, especially in light of today's events.
